Funny: Harper and Presley are both on my girls lists. Laine for the middle name.

For boy, I love Brody. I can't use it because of my last name (ryhmes)
For girl, I like Harper and Presley...obviously!

Boy:
Canon- This is a word name (cannon), and not really a word that I would want my name to be associated with. I think if you're going to use a word name, at least pick a word that has significance (ie. Grace, etc.) I don't like Canon at all. Maybe Kian/Cian "key-in" or Cain as an alternative.
Lane- I love this. I have never heard it as a first name, only as a mn, so it'd be interesting as a fn
Brody- nice, although a lot more common then your other picks, not sure if that bothers you.

Anders

Beckham/Beckett/Beck

Clifton/Cliff

Courtland

August/Gus

Rhys

Roan/Rowan

Arden

Girl:
Presley- Okay, strong association with Elvis Presley, not sure if that bothers you though
Harper- love it, very strong
Timber- dislike it. I think of yelling "Timber!" when a tree is falling

I have a neice named Harper. At first it wasn't my style but now I love it! For a boy...are you pronouncing canon to can-en or cay-non. I would stay away from the weapon sound.

Canon - I like this, actually - either pronunciation is interesting, I think. A similar sound but different style would be "Canyon" - fits the whole nature name theme popular with boys lately.
Brody - nms
Lane - I love this name for a boy and a girl. It's classic, elegant, and decidedly unisex.

Harper - For the record, I love this name. I also think it has the potential to be a little trendy. Probably not overused, but still, I am hearing it a lot in discussions, if not on actual children. The second Capote movie probably will only increase that.
Presley - Cute - if you can tolerate all the Elvis impersonations. If you just like the sound I have a cousin who has a similar name (Chesley)- and she's met only one other.
Timber - I have to agree with previous posters on this one. If you and your husband and all extended family members are short and thin, great - if she's ever a "tall girl," god help her. If you just like the sound, what about Kimber?

You have such interesting choices! Let us know what you pick!!

A canon is a book or a weapon. Nickname: Can or Canny? Yikes. I know a Lane and Brody is very popular where I live. I've always liked Presley and Harper. Timber is a little extreme. My problem with Presley is that I always think of Elvis. And the problem with Harper is her nickname would be Harpie. Yikes!

I appreciate your opinion. We are going with Canon Matthew, Canon is actually a camera brand, but the DH loves it and I agree also. Hey if you think about it every name was strange at first to others but i think it sounds great. Cannon is actually a weapon...So i decided to spell it differently. We also want to get away from the Popular and Trendy names so that was our choice. Now just having trouble w/the girl names...

Thanks again!
