Girl names to honor grandmother.. ideas?

My grandmother passed away last year and I loved her so much. I was thinking the other day I would realy like to find a way name my baby girl(when there is one) to honer her.The only problem is she had a name that wouldnt realy work these days (IMO) her name was Willie sue.(my grandads name was Shirley btw....) Im not set on useing the exzact name ofcoarse (for one thing she wasnt crazy about the name her self ) but I thought maybe I could throw this out there and see if you all could help me think of something similar I could use? I think I would maybe just use what ever name I came up with as a middle name because I have loved the first name Alanna for so long it would be a shame for me not to use it.
Thanx,

I was going to say Elyshia as that uses nearly all the letters in Shirley apart from the "r" and off course adding an "a" for good luck! but it doesnt go with Alanna - alternatively go for something with the same meaning - Shirley means "meadow" - so does Hayley and a scottish one is Ainsley.
Good luck

Alicia,
Congrats on a wonderful name (Evan James) for your son.
Thanx thats so cool that your ds is named James Evan! It truly is a great name, and it is a name Ive loved sence gradeschool. :)
Also thanx for your name sugestions. !t sure does give me a lot to think about.
I agree hardly any of the names flow well with Alanna, In the end I may just find a name with a similar meaning or something along those lines because Im really not that fond of the name Sue or any spinoffs Ive seen so far...sigh.

You should, most importantly, select a name you like.
Alanna is a very pretty name. A family middle name is a great way to round off the combo. It gives your child a link to her history!
1. Variations of Willie Sue-
Willa, Wilda, Willene, Wilhelmina, Willow
Suzanne, Susannah, Suzette, Susan, Susa
Alanna Willow would be gorgeous.
2. Or use her initials - W.S.
3. Since you like Alanna, would you consider the very similar Susannah?
Willa Susannah? I also know a Mary Will, after her grandmothers Mary and Willie Mae.
Alanna Will? Maybe even as a double name.
4. One other option is to use names that mean the same thing as Willie Sue-
Willie means protector. Sue means lily.
Alanna Lily?
Best wishes, Ginger
