Girl Names..tell me what you think!

Hey everyone! I was on the search for names in my 1st trimester and became very obsessive over it. Was on this website all the time...so I had to stop thinking about it for a while. Now that I'm 8 months pregnant...I need to face it again. This is my first! I always had my list of names I loved my whole life, but at that time never thought that I would actually have to consider someone else's opinion...haha! Here are a list of names that DH and I can agree on. Please offer any feedback...I don't mind if you're blunt. Thanks so much!

The MN will either be Josephine of Iva (for sentimental reasons). I like either of them with all of our FNs.

1. Jazlyn (Found it in a baby name book. I'm a musician and would love to nn my little girl "Jazz").
2. Naomi
3. Joelle
4. Jensen (My name is Jennifer, I think its neat to incorporate a little bit of my name in there without using my whole thing. Also...I think it's a cute little tomboy name which I was when I was little).
5. Zahra (I like the spelling Zara better, but fear the reference to the clothing store).
6. Evangeline
7. Shyla

I love the mn options- gorgeous!

1. Jazlyn- I can see the appeal for you with nn Jazz, but I really dislike this name. It sounds like a dog's name to me. I do associate it with the America's Next Top Model winner last season. It just seems very trendy looking, madeup, and doesn't age well at all. My least favourite of your list.

2. Naomi- Lovely. A pretty, feminine classic

3. Joelle- Eh, okay. Doesn't really excite me, but it's okay

4. Jensen - I love Jenson (ie. son of Jen) on a boy, but I think this is too masculine. Just because you were a tomboy, doesn't mean she will be (although I'm sure that's not yoru prime reasoning for using the name). That is one reason though why I dislike super masculine or super feminine names.

5. Zahra (I like the spelling Zara better, but fear the reference to the clothing store).- I like Zara, and have never heard of the clothing store. It is cute!

6. Evangeline- Gorgeous- stunning! Love this one, so classy

7. Shyla- Eh, boring. It sounds dated and frumpy to me

My thoughts:

1. Jazlyn: I understand the appeal of the nn, but I really dislike this one. It seems trendy.
2. Naomi: I love this name!
3. Joelle: This is ok
4. Jensen: This is all right, but unisex names are nms
5. Zahra: I like this, but I would definitely use the spelling Zara. Technically, Zahra is a different name with a different pronunciation. It is an Arabic name pronouced ZAH-hra, meaning "flower".
6. Evangeline: I really like this
7. Shyla: nms

My favorites would have to be Naomi, Zara, and Evangeline.

Thanks! ZAH-ra is actually the pronunciation I wanted for Zara. So maybe Zahra is a better spelling? I wasn't going for the Sarah sound.

I think that Jazlyn would be a wonderful name for your little girl. Just remember that's your blessing from

1) I'm a huge Jocelyn fan, my granddaughter played soccer with a Jazlyn about a year ago, they called her Jazzie, I think it's pretty cute, I like it the best of your list

2) Naomi - it's has a pretty, lyrical, feminine sound, but it's just too old-school for my tastes

3) Jensen - I'm not too much into unisex, there are 1 or 2 I like, but I think going with this when your name is Jennifer will cause confusion - there's way too much chance she'll get called Jen to, whether you try to keep it from happening or not

4) Zahra - it's cute, it'd be my 2nd choice from your list

5) Evangeline -

I like Joelle a lot, Naomi is a quiet stunner, Zara is nice (never heard of the clothing store, if that helps any), and Evangeline is lovely, but I wonder if it might be a little too heavy for you. (The rest of the names are more airy.) None of the rest really do anything for me...Jensen seems trendy and masculine (Geneva might be an interesting way to get your name in there,) Jazlyn just looks contrived, and I've never understood why "shy" seems like a good thing to use in a name. But 4 out of 7 ain't bad!
