Girl's name dilema

Hello all! My DH and I are not finding out the sex of our new little bundle of joy - which will be fine if it is a boy, but disasterous if it is a girl as she may never have a name! We have already decided on Jack Robert or Jackson Robert for a boy, but neither of us can agree on girls names. I like Lila, he like Justine. I like Reegan, he likes Mya. Anyway, my point of this post - we came up with a name we both like, but are still a little hesitant (though I think it may stick with us both). The name is Quinn. Pros: Its pretty, classic, unique without being bizarer, and we BOTH like it. Cons: The double 'k' sound Quinn Cady (pronounced like the first name Kadie - is our last name) and we aren't sure what we would do as a middle name (though my DH like Quinn Simone Cady). Please be brutally honest and let me know what you think! Thank you all in advance!

I'm not fond of Quinn as a girl name at all. Can't help but think of mighty Quinn the eskimo man or something to that extent LOL. Very trendy and far from classic (since you both seem to have some classic names listed there, it just doesn't seem to fit, KWIM?). But if it's the one and only name you can agree on I can understand.

I actually just wanted to mention that since you like Lila (which I love, btw!) and he likes Mya, have you considered a compromise such as Mila/Myla? I've heard this pronounced as both mee-la and my-la, and really like either. And if you don't like that particular name, I think you could try looking at names that are similar or related to a few each of you like, such as the ones you mentioned, and perhaps finding a name that would suit you both! Just a thought. :) I know www.thinkbabynames.com lists variations and related names when you look up a particular name, and I'm sure some other sites do the same, so maybe a compromise could be reached?

HTH! :)

I think Quinn is more boyish, and I prefer it for middle names only if for a girl. What about Quinna? I think Quinna Cady sounds very cute!

I think Quinn can be pretty as a girl's name. I prefer the spelling Qwen (silimar to Gwen). However, it isn't the perfect fit with your last name. I would say go for it though if you both agree on it! Besides, she will only have to keep you last name for 20 or so years, right :)

And for my 2 cents, I prefer Jackson Robert :)

Honestly I like Quinn, even with Simone and the last name. If you both agree, stick with it unless you come up with something else you both like.

I really love Quinn as a mn for a girl. I'm not generally wild about one-syllable fns for girls.

What about Mia? That is close to

Well, I do hate to say it because DH & I have the same issue, but I don't like it with your last name. It's a bit of a tongue twister. I love names with "Ls" in them (Jillian, Julia, Lily, etc.) but my last name has a strong L sound to it and the names just don't go. So even though DH & I agreed on them, we had to go back to the drawing board and cut those from the list. I do like some of the compromise names people listed... try to sell DH on one of those!

Hi, I've always loved the name Quinn...for a girl or boy. I've also always liked same syllable names either first and middle or first and last, so I think quinn cady sounds great! Go for it!!

I am sorry to say but I am not a fan of your choice. You wanted brutal honesty which is what I am looking for as well. It's an ok name but seems more boyish to me. I also don't like it paired with your last name. Good luck I know this is not easy. My husband and I are not able to agree either.

My husband and I also agreed the name of Quinn for our baby girl who is now 2 months old, but we are not finalized the name yet! My husband name is Quintin, and the baby looks like him very much, so he really like the name of Quinn and our surname is Luk "look". But the full name pronounced seems not very pretty, and I now thinking a middle name start from "M" for her, "Mab", "Mia" "Mya" or "Maya", which one do you think will be better? Pls comment!! Thanks
