Girl's name to go with.....

My dear friend is preggo with #2 & she just found out she's having a girl. She needs a girl's name to go with her 1 y/o DS, Rhylan.

She likes the names Emma & Olivia but doesn't want to use them because they are so popular.

Your thoughts/suggestions would be welcome. (first names only please)...we'll get to middle names after she figures out the first name.....don't want to overwhelm her.

Thanks!!
~Rima

p.s. Rhylan was chosen as a Welsh name....any Welsh girl's names would be great too!

These are all Welsh names with their meanings:

Ariene - silvery

Caitlin - pure
Carys - to love
Megan - pearl
Meredith - protector of sea
Rhiannon - a mythological nymph
Rianna - virtuous
Sian - God's gracious gift (pronounced "Sharn" I think)

Hope these help!

Great suggestions everybody! Briallen is pretty. Is it said with a short or long "i"? Sian I've heard pronounced "Shan". Here are a few other suggestions: Tamsin, Brenna, Fiona (or the Welsh equivalent Ffion - pro. FINN) Anna, Teagan or Tegan, Gemma, Rowena, Bethan, Gwyneth, Dana, Ardeth, Nia, Corrina, Nora, Glenys, Kendra, Ophelia, Aurelia, Reece (actually male in Welsh, anglicized form of Rhys). Have tried to give a mix of Welsh names and names similar to Emma and Olivia. Hope this helps.

The Briallen I know is pronounced Bree-allen.

The other ways I have also heard Sian pronounced is See-arn and See-ann. But the 2 Sian's I know pronounce it SHARN.

Emma and Olivia are not only too popular, they are much too traditional/older/classic to match up with the newer/trendier Rhylan (I don't mean trendy in a popular sense, more in a trend towards that style of name)

anyhow; here are some I think would go well with Rhylan

Aubrey, Amber, Brenna, Chloe, Carina, Cara, Delaney, Dannah, Erica, Elise, Heidi, Hailey, Hilary, Jocelyn, Janna, Jillian, Jada, Kara, Kyndle, Kelsey, Larisa or Larissa, Marissa, Mallory, Mikayla, Mackenzie, Natasha, Piper, Rayna, Reegan or Raegan, Sienna, Sierra, Sabrina, Selena, Torri, Tasha, Teegan or Taegan, Whitney

good luck

Oooh, Delaney is a good suggestion. Can't believe I didn't remember to put that one! lol Really seems to "fit" with her style. Delanie is a nice spelling, as well.
