Girls name help!!!
| Sun, 01-27-2008 - 9:21am |
Ok so here's the deal:
I have a boy's name picked but not a girl's name. My husband and I love the name Sophie (we're both french) but the popularity of Sophia has me worried. What do you all think? Would she grow up with too many Sophie/Sophias?? I really like soft sounding feminine names and My husband likes classic names... any suggestions??? Our last name is Fortin so I'd like something that sounds good with that. Here are some names I can not use due to family/friends:
Sage Olivia Julia Ashley Emily Samantha Megan Kelly Marissa
Thanks for the help!

Hi !
Thanks so much for the help but I think you may have mis-read my post. The names I listed are names i don't want to use because they are already used in my family :-)

Oops! Sorry!!
Here are some names I love that seem to be in the same style/sophistication as Sophie.
Gabriela/Gabriele
Nicoletta/Nicolette
Isabella/Isabelle (although popular...beautiful!)
Ana/Anna
Sabrina
Claire
Evelyn
Josephine/Josephina
Cosette
What do ya think??
Sophia is a beautiful name! I fell in love with it even more when I read The Adventures of Tom Jones in high school. If you both really love it, I wouldn't let its popularity bother you. But just in case, here are some others you may like:
- Alethea
- Astrid
- Calla
- Charlotte
- Cynthia
- Hannah
- Josephine
- Melanie
- Melinda
- Ophelia
- Philippa
- Phoebe
- Saffron
- Stefania (stef-AHN-ya)
- Tabitha
- Viola
- Violet
I agree that Sophie/Sophia is too popular for my tastes.
As much as I like Sophia, I wouldn't personally use it because I'm not a fan of uber popular names. A couple of others that popped to mind as less common alternatives: Greta, Stella, Cecily.
Good luck!
I like Sophie but it is tough that Sophia is so popular and I know a few Sophia's and most of get called Sophie so I think she would get mixed in with them.
here are some suggestions:
Simone
Jocelyn
Susan/Susannah
Nicolette
Sylvie/Sylvia
Danielle
Charlotte
Evangeline
Adriana
Estelle/Stella
Celine
Annabelle
Esme
Camille
Amy
hope that helps!
