Hard time with boys name....

I have had 5 boys..thus the reason I have used most my boy names.

I like William the best, but my cousin used it. I like Luke, but my last name starts with a K. I cannot even soften it with Lucas as my last name ends with -es. I am wondering if I should just not worry about it sounding choppy. Liam also comes to mind, but it just does not feel right. I have considered Declan too. A while ago, I liked the name Tully, but I guess it is the name of a Sesame Street character now. I already have Riley Harlan, Andrew Michael, Grayson Alexander, Gavin Christopher, and Matthew (2 surnames, no middle).

The middle names are always after someone, so the middle names are picked for both boy and girl. I find it frustrating when I say that and then someone replies with telling me not to use the middle name I have. The middle names are all pretty generic as they are all after grandparents, great grandparents, etc.

For girls, oh I so want a girl! I only have one girl and have a list of so many girls names, I cannot really cross any off. My dh has suggested Emily. I have nothing against Emily, but it doesn't feel right. My only daughter is older, a preteen, but her name is Brittany Louise. For girls, I have an exhuasting list of names I like..and this is not all of them... Summer, Spring, Meadow, Olivia, Sarah, Paisley, Tatum, Mackenzie, Kenzie, Leah, Hayley, Hallie, Calla, Autumn, Oakley, my dd wants Paige......there is more that I like.

I perfer 2 syllable names. I prefer names where I call the baby by the name, instead of nicknames.

For what it's worth, if we are to have a boy when we get pregnant the end of his name will be with a 'k' and our last name starts with K. I don't think it's a big deal. :)

I'm not sure if you're looking for feedback or just venting.

Since you like William and Liam, why not name use William for a boy name, but shorten it to Liam as a nickname? That way you wouldn't conflict with your cousin, but you'd still get the name you like.

LOL..sorry, I guess I was not clear.

I generally avoid giving the middle name to avoid criticism, since it has already been selected..but here goes...

Andrew (one of our children) died a long time ago. I plan to put Andrew in the middle. Problem is, we get a lot of insults over that. I am leaning toward Luke or Liam. I have considered just using William and not worry about the cousin, but then I would be the first person out of the entire extended family to do that.

hello!! i like your boys names-especially riley and gavin. i really like luke/lucas too-but i cant use it cuz my hubbys cousin has a luke.(he has a HUGE extended family and wants our children to be unique-with their "own" name-which gets really hard at times. lol)heres a few ideas:
ryan
nicholas(you can call him his full name-you dont HAVE to use a nn)
roman
slater
zachary
carter
conner
thaddeus(this is the name of a character on all my children-he goes by tad, but i just love this name)
chase
colton
joshua
edmund
eric
david
randall
adam
and, i saw mackenzie was on your girl list-you COULD name a boy mackenzie and call him mac, if you wanted. when are you due?? emily is cute for a girl and i love olivia(but a family used it so its a no-no for me-lol). good luck!!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.

I think Liam Andrew would be a great name.

I'm also sorry for the loss of your son.

If you like Luke, you might consider Luca, a fairly traditional name in Southern Europe that should address the issues you've outlined. I'm also pregnant, and am considering the name Dante since it's unique in my circle of friends and goes well with our last name. My husband is leaning towards Julian.

Good Luck!
