Another Truman Capote movie will be released soon. Sandra Bullock will be playing Harper Lee. I fear that this will lead to an increase in people naming their daughter's Harper.

Probably.

I have a question for you... is your name Baylor, or do you have a child named Baylor? The reason I ask is that someone I know named their daughter Baylor, and when I asked if they went to Baylor, she got very offended and yelled at me no, why does everyone ask that, they just liked the name. Do you get questions about the name? Do they offend you?

Now I feel even better about deciding against Harper. It was on our shrotlist for a while, but we were a bit worried about the trendiness.

thanks,

My name is Brooke and I attended Baylor. I know a little girl named Baylor (family liked the name) and I went to school with a boy named Baylor (after the school). The only trend I have noticed with this name is that there are a lot pets with this name. I know about 10 dogs named Baylor.

I first heard the name when I read Ya, Ya's Sisterhood! That was the main character's sons name, Baylor. Then when I had my DS, one of my mother and baby nurses commented on how she liked Weston's name, and almost used it for her second (her first is Walker), she said that she ended up naming #2 Baylor!

God, I hope this movie flops. I know it's selfish, but I have had Caroline Harper picked out for ELEVEN YEARS. And if Harper jumps to the top 100 (after being totally obscure and not even ON the SSA list until three years ago) I'm going to lose my mind.

My real hope is that if this movie sparks anything, it will be an interest in the name Nell. Her full name is Nell Harper Lee and she's always been called Nell in real life. So if this movie is accurate, she'll be called Nell throughout. And Nell fits so nicely in with all the Elle names that are popular right now, so hopefully parents will like that it is familiar and yet different, and use that instead.

I'm glad I'm not pregnant yet and can monitor what happens to the popularity after this movie before I have to make a decision. But it's still driving me insane.

Harper is such a beautiful name! *Annie you are the first person I thought about when I read this! I hope this movie flops just for that reason! I think Harper would be a great little girl name for YOU*
