Has anyone ever heard of the name Daranae before (pronounced dara-nay)? I knew a girl in college with this name, but I'm not sure if I'm spelling it correctly. I can't find it on any of the baby name search engines. I'm also interested to know people's opinions about the name.

I do feel like I've seen it before for some reason, though I can't quite place it.
As far as what I think, it doesn't do much for me personally.

Well I've never heard of this exact name, but my sister's name is simply Dara. ;) Perhaps her parents combined Dara with Renee or something like that to get that spelling/pronunciation. Daranee, perhaps? Or it could have been a twist on a similar name, like Darian (switch the last two letters and you could have Darina ... maybe even add a Y for Darinay?). Ok, just speculating here, but maybe a few other spellings you haven't tried. ;)

Some other similar names are Daria, Darah, Dareen, Dareena, Darissa, Darice, Darragh and Darla.

HTH :)

Like one of the pp, it doesn't do much for me. It's just a little too long and seems like two names thrown together unnecessarily. I'd prefer Dara, Renee, Dana, or Danae. Anyway, it's not horrible, but it's not my favorite.
