hi everyone!
i'm only 6 wks from delivery and realize i really want a cute boy's name. (not ending in a "y" and easily spelled).

but not one used for girls.
my favorites were: Logan and Parker.

both are used often for girls in my area.

do you know any boy's names that are easy to understand and spell that are not used for girls?

thank you!!

Hi and congrats! Good luck with this one... I am due with a boy on April 29 and have been struggling with this the whole pregnancy. To be honest, it's almost impossible these days to have a boys name that isn't occasionally used for girls unless you stick with very traditional names such as David, Michael, Thomas, etc. Most of the newer trendy names are being used for girls as well. We have decided on Finley and will call him Finn. I thought it was very male until recently I found out several people are naming girls that.

I haven't heard the name Connor stolen for a girl yet but it being widely used for boys so there will likely be several Connors in your child's class if you were to name him that. So, I have found that you either have to go with a very traditional male name, a very trendy and very used name or just realize that there may be a girl or two with the same name. My name is Shannon and when I was growing up there were more boys with that name than girls.

It sure makes it hard to name a boy doesn't it?

That's a hard one, since even more classic or traditionally masculine names might occasionally be used for girls (Michael, Kyle, Ryan, Carter, Neil, etc.).

Most of these are relatively safe (though no name is 100% excluded from being used for the opposite gender, per the comments above):

Ewan
Nolan
Oliver
Finnian
Phineas
Lachlan
Henry
Harvey
Hugh
Ronan
Garrett
Alister
Miles/Milo
Conrad
Oran/Orrin
Ward
Wes(t)ley
Walden
Donovan
Thaddeus
Malachi
Felix
Dexter
Boyd
Hoyt

I'm expecting my second boy on May 19th. My two year old is Nathan. We've decided on the name Gavin but our second choice was Jonah. Good luck!

There are no guarantees, but I can think of a few easy-to-spell names that I've never even heard suggested for a girl:

Amos
Thane
Grant
Rafe
Levi
Moses
Hugh
Saul
Abel
Bram
Dane
Fox
