My DH loves the name Trighton for a boy. Does anyone know what the meaning is? What do you think of this name? Please let me know.

Trighton looks like a respelling of Triton, which, according to the dictionary, is Latin and Greek, and in mythology was the name of a son or herald of Poseidon (Neptune, the god of the sea). He was a demigod who apparently had the lower body of a fish, although other sources say these half-fish heralds were not his sons, but were charged with carrying around trumpets and blowing them "to soothe the waves at the command of Poseidon."
It's also the name of one of the planet Neptune's moons, a kind of underwater snail (lol) etc.

I think it's a nice idea, but I'm of the Little Mermaid generation and can't stop thinking about Ariel's father, King Triton, when I hear this name. He's a nice guy but a bit overbearing ; ) and hard to associate with a little kid.

Anyway, hth a bit!

All I can think of is King Triton from The Little Mermaid.

I have never heard it as a child's name.
