Have you heard of the name Django (the 'D' is silent)? Are you familiar with the Jazz musician Django Reinhardt?
Our son's name is most likely going to be Django Jackson (Jackson being the middle, not last name). I received a lot of neg. feedback regarding the name Django on another board, however, in my community which is very rich culturally, and aware of the musician with the same name, I have gotten very positive feedback. Just curious how many people know this name and aren't completely freaked out by it. If you hate it, that's okay, it doesn't bother me if you do.

When I was in school I knew a guy whose nickname was "Pud." A friend of mine really liked "Pud" and, to show her affection, named her kitten "Pud". What she later found out was that "Pud" was slang for a piece of male anatomy.
The second story is more closely related to your post. My BIL lived in England for a number of years. His first wife was English and had never been to the US. Her oldest son's name was Illinois. When they came to visit I told her that I was from Illinois. Believe it or not, she didn't even know that there was such a place as Illinois. SHe and her first husband had named the son after Illinois Jacquet, the (late) Jazz musician.
