Hi there! DH & I are expecting triplets in December (but actually earlier since they always come early). We hope to find out in 2 weeks if they're boys or girls, but meanwhile we're just thinking of names for fun. Here is a (very) little list we have so far:
Girls -
Julia Brooke
Julia Carys
Jamison ??
Reese Taylor
Carys ??
Boys-
Samuel Harrison
Samuel Rhys (Reese)
Samuel Benton
Jack Harrison
Reese Harrison
Harrison Carter
Harrison James
Harrison Rhys
Liam Daniel
And actually, DH doesn't like Reese/Rhys. Not sure if he'd go for it as a MN or not though. I'd love some feedback on what combos go well together. Do sibling names HAVE to be all sort of the same? Like to me, Liam is so "different" than Sam & Julia. If we had 2 boys & 1 girl, then would the name Liam really stand out w/ a Sam & Julia? Same with Carys. It seems more "different" than some of the others.
So, I'd love opionions, or even totally new suggestions that are somewhat along the line of what I have here.
Thansk!
edited to say: I should have mentioned, Samuel is sort of a "for sure" (assuming at least one is a boy) just because of the Biblical reference to Samuel being the son of Hannah, who was infertile and prayed for a child. And as I'm sure you all know, Samuel means "asked of God" and with all that we went through to get these babies, it's sort of meaningful to us. :)

Wow congrats on the triplets, how exciting. You have a very nice list I like both Julia and Carys. These would make good combos:
Girls:
Julia Paige
Carys Brooke
Brinley Grace (nn Brin)
Boys:
Liam Daniel (love Liam)
Harrison James
Rhys Carter
Boy/Girls:
Liam Daniel
Carys Brooke
Julia Paige
or
Boys/Girl:
Liam Daniel
Rhys Carter
Carys Brooke
Good Luck!
Thanks for the input! I really like your combos. What kind of name is Brinley? I don't think I've ever heard it before, but I do think it's quite pretty!
I love Liam as well - but I don't like the NN Lee. Do you think it's inevitable?
Hello and many congratulations! My very best friend is expecting twins in December after 11 years of trying, so I can relate to your experience. They briefly thought she might be carrying triplets. I sincerely hope all three of your babies arrive happy and healthy.
I will make comments on all of your considerations, but I foremost wanted to comment on the significance of Samuel. Your reasoning behind it prompts me to encourage you to look for names for the other two that have equal significance. There are many names out there with great meanings...
Girls -
Julia Brooke- Lovely. Julia means forever young...
Julia Carys- Ditto.
Jamison ??--- I LOVE the name Jamison/Jameson for a girl, but I've found through the years that I am vastly outnumbered by those who don't.
Reese Taylor- Nope. Too, too popular/trendy.
Carys ??--- Very pretty. It means "to be loved" or "greatest love" in Welsh, so that might work with Samuel. I like it better as a sibling to Samuel, than Sam.
Boys-
Samuel Harrison--- Fine name. Go ahead and name one triplet with this one. Then you only have to focus on two names- plus it gives you a starting point for style/matching.
Samuel Rhys (Reese)- Nah.
Samuel Benton- Oooh, Like this one too...It means formidable, though.
Jack Harrison--- Good one. Jack means believer in a gracious God, and personality-plus. Harrison means adventurer. Good meanings but not quite as strong as Samuel. Jack is being used in gigantic proportions in places.
Reese Harrison--- Nope.
Harrison Carter--- Another good one. Carter means insightful combined with Harrison- adventurer. Not bad.
Harrison James- Nice. The modern meaning of James is dependable, steadfast.
Harrison Rhys-- Good flow, just not a personal fave. What about Reed, Rory, or Rourke?
Liam Daniel- Liam means protective/handsome. Daniel means spiritual. Liam and Sam are too similar for my taste, but this is a fabulous combo.
On the questions of names being "different"- I vastly prefer "different" names for triplets. They will be compared all their lives- they need to stand out. No doubt they will have very different personalities. You can certainly find name that are in the same "vein" without being too matchy.
Let's assume one is Samuel and one is Julia. I prefer mn Carys for its stronger meaning- I like the following:
Samuel James, Julia Carys & Henry (leader) Daniel
Samuel Harrison, Julia Carys, & Matthew (God's gift) Liam
Samuel Benton, Julia Carys & Roarke (ruler) Harrison
Samuel Harrison, Julia Carys & Raphael (nn Rafe- angel/God's messenger) James
Samuel Harrison, Julia Carys & Gabriel (nn Gabe with Sam- devout, follower of God) James
Samuel James, Julia Carys, & Gabrielle (strong by faith in God) Mia (mine)
Samuel James, Julia Gabrielle, & Elizabeth Brooke (sworn to God)
Samuel James, Julia Gabrielle, & Carys Elizabeth
Samuel Reese, Julia Rachel (peaceful), & Carys Rebecca (loyal)--- All R- mn
Samuel Harrison, Julia Gabrielle, & Rebecca Margaret (pearl)
Samuel Harrison, Carys Gabrielle, & Daniella Brooke (answers to God alone)
Samuel Harrison, Julia Gabrielle, & Margo Elizabeth (treasured/pearl)--- Love the sound of Sam, Julia & Margo!
**Girls- Julia Gabrielle, Margo Rebecca, & Rachel Joy**
Other Julia-type names- Vivian- lively/life, Celeste- heavenly, Claudia- persevering, Cora- generous/my heart, Stella-bright star, Mara- believer in God, Catherine-pure/virtuous, Bridget-strong woman
***Julia Carys, Mara Vivian, & Stella Bridget***
Julia Bridget, Claudia Joy, & Daniella Carys
Boys-
Samuel, Gabriel, & Raphael (Sam, Gabe, & Rafe)
Others- Nathaniel- God's gift (Nate is SO good with Sam), Jeremiah- uplifted by God, Zachary- spiritual, Noah-peacemaker, Micah- God's prophet, Charles- well-loved
Samuel James, Noah Harrison, Zachary Benton- (Sam, Noah, & Zac)
Samuel Harrison, Micah Benton, Nathaniel Carter (Sam, Micah, & Nate)
Samuel Harrison, Nathaniel James, Zachary Benton (Sam, Nate, & Zac)
***Samuel Harrison, Nathaniel James, & Julia Gabrielle***
Samuel Harrison, Nathaniel James, & Margo Elizabeth (Sam, Nate & Margo is adorable).
Lots of fun!!! Keep us posted! Ginger

This IS fun! I love all of the input I am getting - just some wonderful suggestions! I can't wait to show DH tonight. Let me comment on some of what you said:
Congrats to your friend. Our infertility journey was not that long; they must be a very strong couple! We thought origianlly that we were just having twins, and then one week after that ultrasound, there was a third heartbeat! Yikes! :) Thank you so much for wishing us healthy babies.
I love the idea of strong meanings of all names. Brooke is my MM and I do think it goes nicely with Julia, but I am certainly not set on naming one after myself. And I like the unique-ness of Carys better. I think probably if there were 3 girls, then one of the first names would be Carys, and if just one girl (or maybe even w/ 2) then Carys would be a great MM for Julia.
Jamison for a girl - ditto! I find that I am like the only one in my circle of people that actually likes the name. DH really doesn't either.
Didn't know what Benton meant. It's the last name of one side of my family, so that's why I picked it. I also really like your suggestion of Henry. Cute name! I know that DH will like your Matthew suggestion as well. I like it, but I'm not sure if it's just not quite my favorite. (The meaning is beautiful though and that may make me re-think it). My brother's MM is Gabriel and I have always liked that one too.
Mara is a cute girl suggestion.
I agree - the kids will have completely individual personalities, so I am not interested in being matchy at all. But like you were saying, they should at least be in the same "vein...."
Oh my - SOOO much to think about! I can't wait to know what they are. That should make things a lot easier! Of course, sonograms can be wrong can't they!?
THank for giving me so many ideas - they are just great. I'll keep y'all posted :)
THanks! My dad's name is Alex, and DH loves that name, so Samuel Alexander would be nice. I like the flow of it.
I love Jackson, but my aunt named her little boy (3 yrs old now) Jackson. So I am hesitant even about just Jack... but then again she DOES live 8 hrs away...
Juliana is pretty too... I don't know though - I'll have to run it by DH. We've always really liked Julia!
Thanks again for the thoughts!
I love Samuel! And Sam is such a great name.
As for names "sticking out," I don't think that Liam or Carys stick out against any of the names on your list. If it were me (which obviously, it's not) I'd throw out Reese, though. It's becoming uber-popular now, for both boys and girls, and it just doesn't seem nearly as classic or strong as Julia, Liam, Carys, or Samuel. Also, I'd throw out Jamison for a girl (since the -son names mean "son of." Plus, if I were having mixed-gender multiples, I'd want everyone to be able to tell right off which were the boys and which were the girls. With Julia, Jamison, and Samuel, I'd assume you had two boys and a girl, not two girls and a boy.)
I love all the boy names on your list (except Reese), and I particularly love Samuel Benton. Are there any family names you'd like to pass on to these babies? Or any names with family connections?
Congratulations! That is huge news!
Hi there!
The more I am hearing from everyone, the less I am liking Reese! I didn't realize that it was becoming so popular, and I really don't want a kid w/ a billion Reese's in their class.
You made a very good point about wanting people to know which are girls and which are boys, and you're right about Jamison.
As far as family names, while I think it's very special to pass on names, I'm kind of big on "I really have to like (love) the name to use it." I am not going to use something just because it's family - and typing this out I sound a little snotty there, but I sure don't mean it that way! For example though, DH, his dad, and his grandpa all have the MM Michael. If it meant a lot to my DH to continue the tradition, I would do it for sure. But he agrees with me and doesn't feel strongly about it. And it's not that there is a thing at all wrong with the name Michael, it's just such a common MN! And never one that I would "just pick."
That being said, if a name we like happens to be a family name, then great! And it's special because of it. Brooke for example is my MN and I really like it. :) Benton is the last name of a side of my family, and I don't really even know that side all that well, but I like the name. Alex is my dad's name and someone suggested that....
other than that, I guess the answer would be no, I don't really have any family names that are a must. I would probably go by meaning first.
Thanks again, this is so much fun - hearing everyone's advice!
I feel the same way that you do about names; I don't pick them just because they're family names. It's just that I really, really love lots of my family names, and their added meaning makes me love them more (for example, I want to name a daughter Cordelia Ruth, because Ruth was my grandmother's name-she passed away on New Year's Day this year-and Cordelia was her grandmother's name).
Anyway, I forgot to say in my last post how much I LOVE the name Julia. And with Samuel, it's a perfect fit. I love Julia Brooke, so I think you should go ahead and set this one in stone (because I read in another post that you and your husband have liked it for a while). And, I'd probably set Samuel Benton in stone, too. Lastly, I'd set aside Alexander or Alexandra as the middle name for the third one (this is assuming that you're not having all of one sex). That way, all three babies have family-related middle names, which also happen to be names that you love.
Julia Brooke
Carys Alexandra
Samuel Benton
Julia Brooke
Samuel Benton
Harrison Alexander (or whatever first name you decide on)
If you're not crazy about Alexandra, there's always Alessandra, which is the Italian form, and which I think is just lovely. Carys Alessandra.
