Having Twins - Need name help

We're expecting twins - boy and girl... We've decided on "primary" names (the names we will use to refer to the children) but we're struggling with secondary names that blend and flow with our last name.

For these "secondary" names, we are interested in middle name placement and/or a first name placement (legal, but not used daily.)

We prefer "older" names, classic and/or uncommon. We have French and Irish heritages, but we're totally open to suggestions from any culture.

We're very grateful for your ideas.

Last name: Nixon (heh, that's the other hard part)
Boy's name: Jack
Girl's name: Ella

Cheers!

Jack and Ella sounds beautiful together for twins!

Some suggestions

For Ella:
Eleanor
Elena
Elaine
Eliana
Elodie (beautiful name of a French lady that works with me, LOVE it)

Just plain "Ella" is a very good name too and I think would go great with any middle name. Example...
Ella Jane
Ella Marie
Ella Rose (love it!)
Ella Grace
Ella Joy
Ella Renee
Ella Claire
Ella Kate/Katherine
Ella Ruth

Or you could go with a name with Elle in it, such as...
Noelle
Janelle
Joelle
Belle

For Jack: (girls names are so much easier for me...so this may not help much)

Jacob
Jackson

I think that Jack would be best, instead of a longer name.
(I almost wrote Jack Daniel...wouldn't suggest that though! haha)

Jack Matthew
Jack Gregory
Jack (family name)
Jack Patrick
Jack Ryan

Good luck! Love the names already!

I love Jack and Ella, what a beautiful pair.

Personally, I like really traditional names and my choices for "secondary" names would John and Eleanor. Eleanor is actually one of my all-time favorite names. Some possible combinations (I starred my personal favorites):

Eleanor Rose
Eleanor Grace
Eleanor Kate/Cate*
Eleanor Mae
Eleanor Renee
Eleanor Katherine/Catherine
John Thomas*
John Robert
John Michael
John Philip
John Gabriel
John Grey*
John Elliott

Or you could use family names as middle names. John and Eleanor are easy to pair with middle names. Both would sound really good with a surname middle name, I think, if you wanted to use your maiden name or some other family name.

Other Ella/Jack alternatives that I like...

Ellison
Ellery
Elodie
Eliza
Elise
Isabella
Gabriela
Jackson (though I think Jackson Nixon is repetitive, so I wouldn't use this one)
Jack (it doesn't need a full name, it can stand alone well)

Good luck!

Thanks to all for the brilliant ideas!!

I think we have decided on Jack Wesley Nixon for our son.

However, we're still stumped on our girl's name.

We very much prefer simply "Ella" (not necessarily any variation of that name), used as either the first or middle name.

Kaitlyn is already taken in our little family or we'd use Kaitlyn Elanor (and call her Ella). We like Ella Jillian, but with a Nixon (ending in N) we'd rather have some other middle name ending. Though I suppose we could use Jillian Ella Nixon, but if we can manage to use Ella in the beginning it would be preferred.

We like "earthy" names.. Jill, Eve, Jordan, Sarah (this one is taken by my niece). Not necessarily religious, but simple with room for her to make her impression on the world before her name does.

Further, when paired with Ella as the first name, we'd prefer either a single or triple syllable middle name... HOWEVER - if someone can come up with a brilliant first name that "Ella" is to follow, we'll definitely entertain the idea.

Thanks again everyone!

Just noticed you have an Annie - so do we (she is queen of the house and all basset)!

Thanks for the ideas - pondering and I like a few (Dawn, Grace, Claire).

We had a thought about the boy's name... His dad's name is James. I like W. initials for middle names for boys, so would it be reasonable (in the opinions of those on this board) to name our son James Whitaker and call him Jack?

We like Jack Ainsly to, but we'd like to name him for his dad if we can figure out how to do so and still call him Jack.

Also, for Ella - we both really like Avery (two syllable for each name though..). Any opinions?

I'm glad you liked some of my suggestions! The three you mentioned were my favorites from the list too (along with Kate).
