Hanner's post (Lakai) got me thinking about Hawaiian names...There's a girl surfer/model that was featured in magazines a couple of years ago with the name Malia and I always thought it was so pretty. I bet Hawaii is a great resource for different/pretty names - especially for girls (since I tend to stick with "safe" names for boys).
Any suggestions for good Hawaiian names?

Lurker here.....

I take care of a beautiful baby with a pretty Hawaiian name. Her mom and her family are from Hawaii and her name is Noelani (Noel-Ah-Nee). One of my past daycare parents, also from Hawaii is named Noelana (Noel-Ah-Nuh) and went by Lana.

My sis dated a guy from Hawaii named Alika (A-leek-a). Everyone thought it sounded feminine here in the midwest but I liked it. I think it was Hawaiian for Alex-- but I could be wrong.

My neighbor has two little girls named Leilani and Maile. I've heard Leilani alot but Maile was different.
