Panic! Panic! I just found out my baby girl is coming almost a month earlier than I expected! Latest ultrasounds and test show she is due Mid April!!! We were looking at May 8th as the previous due date. I am still fumbling around about a name for her...nothing seems to really say "that's it!" I think my nerves are making me get too carried away about her name. So far our name choices tend to be less trendy. My DH is from Northern Italy, and we were trying to have a lovely name that might fit in both countries. It's harder than I thought it would be....
Here are some that DH & I have been considering:
Laura
Mia
Bianca
Melissa
Julia
Kyla
Sophia
Francesca
(Suggestions????)
We are considering using my Mother & Sister's name "Kathryn" as a middle name.(Even though both my Mother & Sister do not like my DH) My sister's middle name is "Love" we were even thinking of using that as a middle name instead. We may just end of doing something completely new for this new soul coming into our family! Any suggestions are appreciated.
Any suggestions may help us find our "that's it" name for our little girl.
Thanks for your help.
Melody :)

I Love SOPHIA!! "Sophie" for nn is cute too! And it has an Italian flare!
Sophia Kathryn
Sophia Love
Both are very cute!
GL~
Oh, Bianca is just lovely!! There are so many Mia, Sophia, Francesca and Julias being named now, Bianca would really stand out. It is adorable for a child and sophisticated for an adult.
Bianca Kathryn---just perfect!
Best of luck with your April baby.
Mary
from the names that you listed I like:
Sophia
Julia
How about:
Gia
Marina
Camille
Arianna
Adrianna
Carina
Good luck to you!
I really like Bianca. It's so underused and yet familiar to everyone. I also like Sophia, Francesca and Julia.
I think Kathryn or Love flow very well with most of the names you've listed, but I probably wouldn't use them, if your mom & sis are not fans of your DH.
How about Bianca Laurel, Bianca Sophie or Bianca Juliet as combinations (using variants of some of the names you like).
Other suggestions: Gianna, Carina, Talia and Caris/Carys.
Great list. Here are my comments-
Laura - timeless - But Laura Kathryn doesn't really reflect the Italian roots, sounds very classic American.
Mia - I love it. It's more popular than you may realize, though. Mia Kathryn is fantastic.
Bianca - One of my faves, but I don't like the double kuh- sound in Bianca Kathryn.
Melissa - Is a pretty name, just doesn't stand out among the others
Julia - Super-popular
Kyla - Kyla Kathryn is very pretty, though it doesn't scream a combo of your roots.
Sophia - Definitely a good blend, Sophia Kathryn, and, unfortunately, extremely popular.
Francesca - A beautiful name, but not with Kathryn.
(Suggestions????)--- Top 20 Italian Names for 2004 (in order)
Maria, Anna, Giuseppina, Rosa, Giovanna, Teresa, Lucia, Carmela, Caterina, Francesca, Anna Maria, Antonietta, Carla, Elena, Concetta, Rita, Margherita, Franca, Paola
To me an Italian fn with mn Rose would fit very well with the names of today and reflect Italian roots- Francesca Rose? Bianca Rose? Or what about Bianca Melody or Francesca Melody?
Others that say Italian- Lucia Kathryn, Elena Kathryn, Natalia Kathryn, Liviana Kathryn, Liviana Rose, Martina Rose, Sabina Rose, Sabina Kathryn, Simona Rose, Carolina (caro-leena) Rose, Gianna Kathryn
One other possibility- Katerina, the Italian form of Kathryn. That gets two objectives taken care of in one name, one beautiful name! Then, you are wide open to select another name that really says "That's It!" to go with it...
Examples- Laurel Katerina, Charlotte Katerina, Audrey Katerina, etc. OR Katerina Elise, Katerina Elaine, Katerina Frances, etc.
Another option- a pretty Italian name with a great meaning-
Daniella- God is my judge, Amanda- lovable, Clarissa- bright, Eloisa- sunny, Felicia-happy, Estella- star, Gabriella- strong woman, Isadora- gift, Patricia- noble
Combos- Daniella Rose, Daniella Vivian, Pilar Amanda, Sofie Amanda, *Clarissa Melody*, Eloisa Kathryn, Kathryn Felicia, Estella Kathryn, Gabriella Rose, Isadora Kathryn, Patricia Rose
I always like to see children named for special family members. But I also think it would be okay not to worry about that so much in this case if you're going to find a name reflective of your dh's roots. That would special in itself!
I see some lovely combos, here. I hope this helps. I know from personal experience...naming a girl is so hard! Best wishes, Ginger
I personally like Bianca. Its so pretty. It's a name thats cute when she's little and sophiticated when she gets older. I like a previous posters suggestion of Bianca Kathryn.
Hope this helps
I really like Bianca and Mia and Francesca. Francesca Love sounds very sweet. I think Mia is fairly popular right now. Here are some other Italian names...
Allegra Kathryn
Elena Kathryn
Gianna Kathryn/ Gianna Love
Siena Kathryn/Siena Love
p.s. I love Italy!! I have only been to Milan in Northern Italy--it has great shopping. Unfortunately it was raining when I was there, and the large Duomo was undergoing renovation. I guess that means I will have to go back sometime to really experience the city!
