Ok, so my husband and I thought we had finally named our baby boy. We had decided on Jackson, only we were going to spell it Jaxsen. When we told the family, the name got not so good reviews. Any suggestions, and what do you think of Nathan, Jacob (wich was out first pick but has become so popular), Evan, Jeremy, Ethan. I am so stuck, need your input please. Thanks! PS: Middle name is going to be Lee, it is a family name.

Well, I'm afraid I'd be on your family's side here. Sorry, but Jaxsen is just really bad, IMO. I strongly dislike misspellings. Jackson is all right, but it's overly popular and trendy for me. Most of your other choices are fairly popular as well, but Jackson seems different to me. It is not only popular, but trendy (it spikes in popularity and then goes down in a few years, making it dated) which makes it much worse in my book.

I really like Nathan, Evan, and Jeremy from your list! I think all sound good with Lee as the mn too. Jacob is just too popular for me (I could handle top 10, but #1 is just too much!) and Ethan has never been one that I've liked- not quite sure why.

With popularity/ trendiness in mind, I think Nathan or Jeremy would be great picks. FWIW, I wouldn't share names w/ the family anymore- it's likely that no matter what you pick at least one person will have a negative reaction and that could really sour a name you love. Go with what your heart says, what you and DH love, even if it's Jaxsen.

Here are some others that you may or may not have thought about already, just food for thought!
Everett
Owen
Collin
Gavin
Austin
Clayton
Landon
Easton
Weston
Davis
Ian
Luke
Jared
Brendan
Grant
Grayson

Good luck to you!!!

sorry, I'm not really big on Jackson either and I do prefer the original spelling. I really like Nathan and Jeremy from your list, I love Evan too!

All are very nice names. I do much prefer Jackson spelled this way.

I like Jeremy very much, but think that Evan Lee and Ethan Lee sound the nicest.

John Lee (nn Jack) or Jack Lee are quite nice too.

I think those are all nice names for boys. I prefer traditional spellings so I'd go for Jackson. But I Love Ethan. Jeremy is nms. I also like Evan and Nathan is nice too. good luck...

I like all of the names on your list, including Jackson, but if popularity bothers you, most of those names are

Jaxsen Lee- I have to be honest here and tell you that this spelling is pretty awful. Jackson Lee is nice, although it is very popular. I do prefer the simplicity of Jack, where as Jackson, to me, works better when the baby literally is the "son of Jack", like the name means. What about Jensen?
Nathan- Nice name. Getting popular, but so are all the names on your list except Jeremy, so I don't think that is a problem for you. You could also do Nathaniel, if you like that.
Jacob - overdone, nothing exciting
Evan- nice
Jeremy- This is nice, and not nearly as popular as your other choices. I like it.
Ethan- nice

To be quite honest, nothing really jumps out at me due to the high popularity, but there is nothing awful (except the Jaxsen spelling).

Good luck, I hope you find something you love,
-Nikki

Why would you not name YOUR child what YOU want to name him? This is a really good argument for those of us who choose to NOT reveal the name of the baby on the way until he/she is born. You and your husband created this child, presumably without the help and input of family and friends therefore you and your husband should name it. Who cares what the rest of the world -family included- thinks? Honestly, was it a family decision for you to procreate in the first place or did you do that all on your own?

Questions like this frustrate me to NO END! DH and I will name our baby what WE want to name her just like our other 4, leave it to some moronic outsider to look at my beautiful child and say "I don't like that name" WHATEVER, it won't happen, if someone doesn't like her name, what do I care, I may not like some of the decisions others make either, who am I to judge?!

Love the name Nathan the best. I am not so crazy about the spelling of Jaxson. I like the name Jackson however, just not spelled different. But if you two are not sure about that name then I vote for Nathan...

I wonder if maybe they were reacting to the spelling rather than the name--that spelling is a bit inexplicable, even though the name itself is quite commonly seen. Otherwise, I really like Ethan.
