WOW, I really like a lot of your suggestions. My favorites of the suggestions so far are:

Beatrix (DH and both really think this is cute, problem is, people we just told it too, keep on saying Beatrice, and I wouldn't want her constantly correcting herself. Sighhhh, but we are still seriously considering it, because it is so cute, and both like it.)

Emeline (I love this, also with Kate, really cute!. My only concern is her getting mixed up with the billion Emmas we know already, but I really love it, and think the "ine" sound is very southern)

Delilah (LOVE IT!!!! - but worried here in the deep south people would have too many negative bible connotations, do you think this is true? because we both like it a lot)

Susannah (like it, but DH has close childhood friend, so too many connotations)

Camille (I love it, reminds DH of camel....)

Violet (LOVE IT!, but I think it is getting way too popular :-(

So, what do you think??? Keep the suggestions coming and feedback, they are really helping. I also like the idea of using another double name combo that some peopel suggested. We can't think of any good ones though. I want something fresh sounding, and all our combos come out sounding too granny or too

I love a lot of your choices! Personally, my favorite is Georgia Kate. I love love love the name Georgia, but since I live in Atlanta, it just won't work for me. That said, if you don't love it, it's probably not the name for you. I also ADORE Penelope and Eloise, and I think you could easily avoid the nns Penny and Ellie by insisting people call her by her full name or instituting your own favorite nicknames. Personally I like Poppy for Penelope, and I'd never nickname Eloise because I love the full name so much.

As for your new favorites...

Beatrix -- LOVE this. I understand the Beatrice issue, but I think you could probaby say, "No, Beatrix, like Beatrix Potter." and people would understand. With the new Renee Zelwegger movie Miss Potter in theaters right now, there should be an increased familiarity with the name.

Emeline -- I like this, but I don't like it nearly as much as your other choices. There are too many popular Em- names for this to jump out at me the way Penelope or Eloise or Beatrix does.

Delilah -- love this one too. I wouldn't worry too much about the biblical reference, but then I'm not a religious person. I grew up in an evangelical southern baptist household, so I'm familiar with the story, but I just think there are two sides to every story...and if Delilah's side had won, she'd be considered a hero rather than a traitor. I actually strongly considered this for a future daughter because of personal significance (when my partner and I were in a long-distance relationship, she used to sing me Plain White Ts song "Hey There, Delilah" every night). We decided not to use it for a daughter, but we are adopting a new puppy soon and are planning to name her Delilah. We also live in the South, and we've gotten nothing but wonderful reactions when we tell people what we're planning to name the puppy. Granted, a puppy is not the same as a child, but I thought you'd like to know about the great reaction.

Violet -- lovely, but I agree that it's gaining in popularity.

I'd rank my favorites from your list as: Eloise, Penelope, Beatrix, Delilah

I think the most common pronunciation, at least in the US, is emma-line (rhymes with dine).

I like all the names you picked ... though some do bear a resemblence to Avonelle as other posters have said.

What about Genevieve? That's sort of like Georgia but not as George Bush-sounding. You could call her Genny or Gena for short. I had a whole slew of other southern-sounding names to suggest but many other posters included them.

Good luck!

I love both Beatrix and Emmeline. I don't think Violet is too popular- I wouldn't discount it yet. Maybe take a list to the hospital?

Your daughter is absolutely adorable-I want to scoop her up and hug her :)

Still searching for the perfect name? Gosh, so many choices! I like a lot of the suggestions too. Beatrix is great, love it! I don't think the Beatrice/Beatrix thing would
