right now, i'm leaning towards Lucas or Luke. i'd welcome similar names also!
i feel i came to these names by simply eliminating other names and not because i feel solidly excited about these names.
can anyone encourage me that these are good names and that Lucas doesn't sound ugly or weird. please be encouraging!! and i appreciate any other suggestions!!
thank you!!

My nephew is named Lucas and I adore that name. Luke is also great. Neither are "weird" or "ugly." :)
Actually, I think they are both fairly common.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
I LOVE both Lucas and Luke. I have been considering both names as well. Although I LOVe both names, here are my reservations: Lucas and Luke - both very popular, and from the sounds of your feedback, becoming more used and popular. When growing up, I'm not sure I want my child to have the same name as possible several other kids in his class. Luke: my brother said it is too "Star Wars"... I'm not sure if I agree. Back when I first started likeing this name, people said it was too 90210, but since that show has died, so have the comments about that... If the popularity doesn't bother you, then either name is awesome, IMO, but if you want something a little less common, a few suggestions are: Landon, Lydon, Layton, Lawson, Liam, Turner, Hayden, Maddox, Jude, Quinton, Sawyer, Hodlen, Jared, Weston, Hudson, Marcus, Dallas, Roman, Braxton, Avery, Preston.
Best of luck!
Hi - I usually like to just read the posts - I guess I'm a little shy about posting myself. Anyway, when I read your post I had to respond. I have a Jackson and a Lucas - but he has always been called Luke or Luca. I love his name more than I could ever have imagined! I love it because it is one of those names that has never been overly trendy - or forgotten. It is recognizable as a solid boy's name. I love that Luke doesn't have 3 other Luke's in his class (unlike Jackson (LOL) - when I named him 10 years ago the name wasn't near as popular as it is now!) Our Luke is actually Lucas James (I just liked that better than Luke James which sounded a bit abrupt to me.)
Good luck!!!
Timmie
