Hey Everyone,
I just discovered that this board existed. So, I decided to try it out. My husband and I are a little stumped about what to name our first daughter. We want to name her something that isn't too common, but wont result in her being made fun of. We like names that have to do with historical or literary reference, but really just anything pretty that fits. We've picked out some names that we really like. Please give input on any of them, or other suggestions are also welcome. :) Thanks

Harper Lenore
Dora Elise
Carson Marie
Ilia Faye
Adelin Taylor
Verana Colette
Madeline Alaine
Avery Willow
Aurora Bella
Eden Ophelia

Hi, you've got some pretty interesting choices there... I'm pregnant with my second child and my first doughter's name is Indigo (no second name).

I like Verana and Bella the best, so what about Verana Bella ??

Good luck with choosing the name for your baby. It's a hard task. Ones you choose and baby is here, you wont be able to imagine any other choices you had... We had about 10 name choices, but I can now only see our daugher as Indigo. It suits her so well.

Cheers

I would have to say that Isabella is very feminine and royal name for your soon to be little princess.

I absolutely love Aurora Bella! I was thinking about using Aurora for my daughter, and then my 4 year old became obsessed with Sleeping Beauty and didn't want her sister using the name! I think those two names sound beautiful together!

You have a great, interesting list here. I think you are on the right track. Here are my thoughts on your names.

Harper Lenore -- I love, love, love Harper. It's a long-time favorite of mine and I hate that I most likely won't be able to use it. I think it's a fantastic choice. My only warning to you is that it seems that your style leans more toward old-fashioned, feminine names. What you don't want to do is wind up with daughters named Harper and Dora -- because everyone will assume Harper is a boy. Obviously you don't need to name all your children today, but keep in mind future children when naming your first. Harper and Carson would make a nice sister set, but Harper, Carson and Madeline just doesn't work. I love Lenore. I think it's pretty and does a nice job of feminizing Harper without being too frilly. It's a lovely combination.

Dora Elise -- Dora is nice, though I can't think past Dora the Explorer. Elise is absolutely lovely.

Carson Marie -- I like Carson quite a bit. Marie seems like a filler name (like Ann, Lee, Rose, Grace, etc) so unless it has sentimental value for you, I'd suggest another middle name. Carson Elise would be lovely.

Ilia Faye -- I'm not wild about either of these. Both are nice, but not my cup of tea.

Adelin Taylor -- I prefer the Adeline spelling because Adelin looks incomplete. I really like Adeline and love the nickname Addie. Taylor is a bit overused/trendy, but it's lovely in the middle name spot if it's a family name.

Verana Colette -- Verana is not really my style, but it's pretty and unique and I much prefer Verana to a ubiquitous name like Isabella or Madison. I love Collette, especially in the middle name spot.

Madeline Alaine -- I love Madeline (though I prefer the Madeleine spelling) but Maddy is quite popular right now due to the overwhelming popularity of Madison. If you plan to call her only by her full first name, you might be able to avoid some of the popularity, but if you'll call her Maddy, I'd advise against this. I prefer Elaine to Alaine. I like it, but it seems a bit awkward with Madeline, because both names end in the "n" sound. I'd prefer Madeline with another mn -- Madeline Taylor, Madeline Harper, Madeline Elise.

Avery Willow -- I'm not wild about Avery. It feels very trendy to me. Ditto Willow, which is nice...but just not as nice as many of the other names on your list.

Aurora Bella -- This combination screams DISNEY PRINCESS, to me. I love the name Aurora, even though it's a bit frilly for my taste. But paired with the equally frilly (and painfully popular) Bella, I can only imagine a nursery covered in pink ruffles. I would pair Aurora with something more solid and less popular. Maybe Aurora Faye or Aurora Harper.

Eden Ophelia -- I like Eden, but I think it's on the verge of becoming very popular. I'm hearing it more and more lately, and it's popping up in the celebrity world. It's not terribly popular yet, but if you are very worried about popularity, you might want to think twice about this one. Ophelia is gorgeous and totally unexpected. I really love it.

Of all your names, I most like: Harper, Lenore, Elise, Adeline and Ophelia.
