Help with a name that rhymes

This is my first time writing here, so I'll tell you a little bit about me. I am 28 and am 8 weeks pregnant. My due date is 8/11/07. My husband and I are soooooo excited. My question is......my husband is stuck on the name Rocco for a boy. Which is ok, but our last name is giovacco. Is this as terrible as I think it is? And advice is welcome.... Thanks!

I agree with you ... Rocco Giovacco is much too similar/rhymey.

Since Rocco is very nicknamey -- although I know it is a stand-alone name -- why not use it as a nn?

You could use a name with some of the same sound elements as Rocco ...
Riccardo
Roderick/Rodrigo
Ruggero
Lorenzo

Or, since your ln already contains the same -occo/acco sound, nearly any R fn paired with it could easily lend itself to the nn ...
Raffaele

You could also use something like ...
Noah (has the same meaning as Rocco -- "rest")
Peter/Pietro/Piero/Petros (Peter means stone or rock )
Alan (also a "rock" meaning)

And of course you could just use Rocco as a nn even if it has nothing at all to do with the given name. ;)

It would drive me nuts if that was my dh favorite name. Maybe he might like another R name like:

Ryder
Rhys
Ryland
Robert
Roderick
Russell
Rafferty

Sorry, but I would definately avoid it. It doesn't have a nice sound at all. Give us yoru naming style and criteria and we can suggest some names that do go nicely.

Honestly I just want a name that sounds good. I like Nicholas, and nn Nick. It just sounds good with our last name. We're not sure what we are having yet but we will find out. I have a harder time with boys names then girls. For girls we like Isabella and kinda like Hayden. I liked Luke but my husband does not. So I am really lost. Any help would be appreciated. I guess more traditional for boys and more recent, trendy names for girls......Thanks for your help!!!

Mmmm ... yea, pretty bad! But welcome to the boards. Maybe you guys'll find something that goes w/ your ln better than Rocco!

I wouldn't do it. Not trying to be mean, but I don't think the combo is good at all.
