Help with a name that rhymes

This is my first time writing here, so I'll tell you a little bit about me. I am 28 and am 8 weeks pregnant. My due date is 8/11/07. My husband and I are soooooo excited. My question is......my husband is stuck on the name Rocco for a boy. Which is ok, but our last name is giovacco. Is this as terrible as I think it is? And advice is welcome.... Thanks!

If you like Nicholas, and it works with your ln, and you like Rocco, but not as a given name with your ln, why not Nicholas, nn Nico?? You get a name you obviously like and that doesn't sound comical, AND you get a nn very similar to Rocco. Seems win-win to me. ;)

Your poor son will be the butt of so many jokes; that's so cruel. Beg your husband to change his mind!

I'm sorry, I have to agree that it's a little...well, I won't call it terrible, but I do think that rhyming names are a little "cartoonish", and this one in particular (please don't take offense, I am Italian as well...) sounds a little "Sopranos" or "mobbish" to me...

ooh, great idea!!! And what a sexy guy that sounds like! I could fall in love with a Nico in an instant! (provided he lives up to the exotic, deep/brooding qualities of the name, lol...)

Nico is good, but the barber next store is Nico....So that is the only reason I second guess it. Oh and I am not even Italian....just my husband is. I'm irish, german a hole mix. I can't figure out if he really likes Rocco or if has just been talk for the past 7 years. I guess time will tell. Thanks for all of the help!!!

ah...ok, can completely understand why you wouldn't use Nico then... hmm...how about... Tico? Rico? But then I guess you'd need to find a given name to go with one of those as a nn...

I asked my dh Rocco what he thought of the name Rocco with your last name. He thought it sounded great because it rhymed. When he was little everyone called him Rocky which sometimes sticks with a person their whole life. Rocco is a very popular Italian name in his family. He has many cousins in Italy with the name Rocco Luigi. He is just Rocco, no mn. My oldest is Christopher Rocco.
