help with names

We are expecting our third child soon. We like older, traditional names and already have 2 girls: Tess and Lucy. I'm looking for opinions on the names we're leaning toward.

Boy - Finley Michael

Girl - Belle Marie OR Ruby Jean

What are your thoughts? Regarding the girls' names, I like both for a little girl, but have concerns about the names for an adult woman. Any feedback is appreciated.

Love Finley Michael and Ruby Jean - those are great names.

I like Belle, but it's way too popular right now.

I definitely like Ruby Jean better with your other 2 girls. I think Ruby would work fine as an adult as well.

Finley Michael would be nice, especially with the nn Finn. It goes with the shorter style of your other kids.

Other girl possibilities off the top of my head to go w/ Tess and Lucy:

Gwen/ Gwyneth
Bethany (mn Jean would sound good!)
Blythe
Ruth
Fiona or Finola

I can't think of any boys, but I'll work on it!

Boy - Finley Michael

Girl - Belle Marie OR Ruby Jean

I think Finley is cute! It grows up well, and has a great little nick name. As far as your girl names go, I think Ruby Jean is both more original and less of a "precious" name. The trouble with all of the Belle/Bella's out there is that the name directly translates into a "real" word in several languages that comes with quite a bit of pressure. It also doesn't sound feasible as, say, a congresswoman or judge or CEO...I think Ruby, while also a word, seems more established as a name. The "Jean" especially helps it seem grown up. It also goes much better with Tess and Lucy. The three sound like they can have a great time together. A Belle might prefer to stay home and do her nails :)

With big sisters Tess and Lucy (which are great, btw!):

Boy - Finley Michael -- couldn't love this more. ;) My only concern is that Lucy and Finley have similar-sounding endings, but if you plan on calling him Finn at all I think it's fine. Tess, Lucy and Finn really works. If the similar endings might bother you, I also love Finian/Finnian.

Girl - Belle Marie OR Ruby Jean -- Ruby Jean is great, and fits perfectly with Tess and Lucy (also, they're all four letters, which is a nice, subtle link). I've known a few adult Rubys (always wonderful, fun, "spunky" women ), so this definitely works on a little girl or a grown woman IMO. Belle doesn't quite cut it for me in that regard. It's just a hugely-popular nn for so many -belle names at the moment, it seems a bit too common and not quite as old-fashioned classic as Tess and Lucy, KWIM? Again, I LOVE Tess, Lucy and Ruby, though. ;)

I think Ruby is PERFECT with Tess and Lucy. I really love them together. Ruby is so spunky, just like Lucy & Tess. Belle is okay, but very nicknamey and getting popular. Finley is a great name, although I'm not sure I love it with Tess and Lucy.
