Help with names!! Particularly boy names

Hi everyone! I am brand new to this and was reading all your posts. I thought for sure you could be of help. I am expecting my first child early this spring. I am having a hard time coming up with a name, especially boy names. Even though I know I still have awhile, I am frustrated.
I really REALLY want a unique name because our last name is Smith, very common. I really like Mack, but Mack Smith is too short and plain. I can't figure out a name that I could use and call him Mack for short. There's McAlister or McCormick but I am not a huge fan of either of those. Any help??? Any other unique suggestions would be greatly appreciated too!
And one more question--if it is a girl I would like to name her middle name after my mother and best friend, Peggy. I have yet to find a first name that flows well with something Peggy Smith. Her name isn't Margaret nor does she have a middle name. It is just plain Peggy. Again, it has to be something a little different:) THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Hi! My dh's name is Mack, which comes from his mn of McClelland. No, I'm not suggesting you use McClelland! :) I just wanted to caution you about the name Mack, since I have lots of experience with it. People constantly think my dh's name is Matt or even sometimes Mark. Whenever he introduces himself he always has to repeat his name. Also, his name is frequently misspelled as Mac. Just some things to think about. GL! :)

I always thought Mac was short for Malcolm - could go by Mal or Mac.
