I love the name Adair for a girl, but can't come up with a middle name that I think works with it. Any suggestions? (It needs to go with Ava Grace as that is my other daughter's name.)

I do love the name Adair as well; so pretty. Not sure how I feel about it for you since you already have a daughter whose name begins with an A, so I would probably recommend to use Adair as the mn.

But if you use it as the first, I would choose something with meaning to go in the mn. I would definitely avoid filler's- Rose, Elizabeth, Grace, Nicole, etc. as it just brings the name down. How about something like-

Adair Matilda

Adair Beatrix

Adair Josephine

Adair Lilianna

Adair Calista

Adair Millicent

Adair Rebekah

Oooh, the possibility of a real-life Adair. How exciting! It's been a favorite of mine since the 80s, and I have never known one...

I think it is prettiest with 3+ syllable mn. I wouldn't do anything filler-like. The whole name could be very striking! One way to help with flow is to choose a mn beginning with the same letter as your last name. That tends to smooth combos out. Ex. Adair Marissa Mason, Adair Catherine Connor. Of course, your last name would greatly affecty what I'd suggest anyway. I would avoid unisex mn too. You want her gender to be clear and the combo to be flowy, IMO. In general, -a ending mn tend to soften choppy first names (I don't mean that as criticism to Adair; I LOVE the name, but it is choppy to work with in combos).

Ava Grace &

Adair Christina

Adair Samantha

Adair Leanna

Adair Lenora

Adair Kimberly

Adair Makenna

Adair Milena

Adair Callista

Adair Helena

Adair Sophia

Adair Sienna

Ava loves the name Sophia and I really like how Sophia Adair flows. However, I am hesitant about using the middle name (Adair) as the name this baby goes by. How common do you think it is for a girl to go by her middle name? Does anyone who goes by their middle name have an opinion on if they liked/disliked it?

Thanks for all the postive feedback on the name! We're not telling it as an option since it's not a common name (not even top 1,000) & I don't want to be swayed by people saying if they don't like it!

Keep posting possible name combinations if you think of them too, please!

My dh goes by his mn but that's because his father, grandfather and son all have the same fn/mn combo.
