Help--need name for a 3rd child!
| Fri, 12-31-2004 - 11:37pm |
Hi. I am looking for a name that goes with the names of my other two children, Lydia and Griffin. I am due in a month and getting stressed. We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl, so we need suggestions for both. I like a lot of different names, but finding one that fits with the other two is proving to be difficult. Help!

LOVE both Lydia & Griffin -- here are some of my thoughts for #3.

Wow both Lydia and Griffin have been on my list at one point or another :)
Girls names:
Fiona (this might be to "shrek" now...but its still a gorgeous name IMO!), Ilona (rhymes with Fiona), Damaris (Da-mare-is)...this is also biblical as is Lydia and they are both found in the Acts of the Apostles so I thought that was kind of cool, Leila, Amalie, Beatrix, Violet
Boys names:
Rhys (okay I know I'm biased LOL), Asher, Reuben (too sandwichy??), Joel...I am drawing a blank on boys names sorry...

Rhys, Niamh, Isla and Deirdre!that's a pretty wide open request, but I'll try.
for starters Lydia and Griffin are very different styles, so I can imagine that picking one to fit with both is a chore. Lydia is much more traditional/older/classic name while Griffin is from the surnamed-turned-first-name trend, much more modern idea.
you should go for names you like - don't stress out over whether they "match up" so much.
First list: Other traditional (or at least have been around a while) girls names with match up well with Lydia, but not so old-fashioned that they're out of line with Griffin
Amanda, Angela, Amy, Amelia, Belinda, Corinne, Colleen, Diana, Hannah, Jacqueline, Kimberly, Molly, Megan, Natalie, Naomi, Olivia, Phoebe, Rachel, Sophia, Samantha
Second list: Anything goes girls list: more trendy/modern/70s,80s-ish, but not so trendy and modern to be out of line with Lydia
Amber, Brittney, Caitlin, Chloe, Cara, Chelsea, Delaney, Dannah, Erin, Erica, Hilary, Heidi, Jillian, Jocelyn, Johanna, Janna, Kara, Kirstin, Kelsey, Mallory, Mackenzie, Maura, Natasha, Rayna, Vanessa, Whitney.
Third list: Boys trendy type, but not so unique in flavor as to stand out against Lydia:
Austin, Brennan, Conner, Colin, Colton, Dylan, Derek, Eric, Ethan, Evan, Holden, Hunter, Ian, Jared, Keegan, Kyle or Kyler, Mason, Preston, Parker, Spencer, Tanner, Trevor.
Fourth list: Boys more traditional (or at least around a while), but no so old-fashioned as to be out of line with Griffin:
Andrew, Anthony, Christopher, Douglas, Gregory, Joshua, Jeffrey, Kevin, Matthew, Michael, Marcus, Nicholas, Noah, Nathan or Nathaniel, Shawn, Timothy, Zachary.
good luck. hope you find some that might work in all that.
