Help! Stuck on Popular Name!

My husband's name is Daniel. So if a boy, we had decided 100% on Aiden because it's my husband's name mixed up (exept the "L" which would be in the middle name... Lane). I also loved Aiden because I had never heard it before and thought it must be SO unique. After reading this message board I realize Aiden is to be one of the most popular names. Now I don't if I should change it or not.

Go with what you feel! If you like the name stick with it. It is a wonderful name and I it means a lot to the two of you. Other people didn't come up with the name the way you did.

Hi there. Aidan is a great name, but it is rather popular. However, it'd still be nice to use if you spell it Aidan. Aiden is the made-up spelling, & it is incorrect. I don't know how it got started. Aidan Lane (there's the E in Lane too!) is fabulous, popular or not. Hope this helps!

I think if you both agree and love the name - use it... It has become more popular, but some names are always popular. I think Aiden/Aidan Lane is a great name :-)

Good Luck! and when you can please add your info to the Who'sWHo post - Thanks

I know everyone says it's popular, but in my area, I've yet to run across an Aidan. I also love the name, if I ever had anoother boy I'm 100% positive his name would be Aidan. If you love it ...use it & don't worry about the popularity. It may not be common in your area.

don't change, but I hope your last name isn't Payne. Maybe you guys should try a different middle name. So that the name doesn't rhyme so much.

I LOVE Aiden! It is quite popular, but not overly so. I would stick with it.

Aidan was 40th and Aiden was 60th in 2004.

I took the total number of births listed beside the ranking on the social security site and added them together.

It would have been 17th with those two spellings combined.

not only is it overly popular, now girls are starting to use it regularly.

good luck though. I don't know what to tell you. it's hard when you like something but there are negative aspects.

I would recommend Holden as an all-male alternative with a similar sound.

no way you should be concerned about the name containing your husband's names letters. it's too restrictive. find a name you really really like without regard to family names etc.

I think if both you and your DH love the name than popular or not I would use it.
You could also use your DH's name as a middle name and use a different first name that is not so popular if that is a major concern. Like a pp said, Holdan with Daniel as mn would be nice.

I would not worry at all about the popularity of the name if you love it. But if you are too concerned, here are a couple of options that sound a lot like Aiden...

Hayden
Jaydon

I don't think these are as popular but I don't know for sure.
