So, Ephraim is gone off our boy 'list'. There are too many alternate spellings, 2 different possible pronunciations (eee-frum or eff-rum). I need something more straightforward.
DH has grudgingly agreed to Abram. I think I would like to give him TWO middle names to honour the two sons my Grammie lost. So he would be Abram Philip Glenn Caplan.

For a girl we're still with Tova at #1, and Akiva at a close second. I think we'll use 2 MNs as well: Tova Helen Maureen Caplan, or Akiva Helen Maureen Caplan. Helen is my Grammie (we're really tight, in case you're wondering!) and Maureen is a dear friend who died a year ago May and I'm due on her birthday.

Opinions? Comments? Suggestions? What do you think of the 2 MN thing? Max is Max Amasa and Solomon is Solomon James, so they each only have one.

Hey Cheri.

I love Abram Philip Glenn. That's super handsome, & it goes really nicely w/Caplan, Max, & Solomon. Great choic!

Tova Helen Maureen is a nice choice too. Tova is nice & simple, & goes really well w/your ln & boys' names as well. Akiva seems a bit akward; although I really like Aviva.

The two mn thing is not a big deal at all. It's especially nice that you're honoring important people.

Hope this helps!

P.S.-Your siggy is so cute!

I have to say, I really like the name Tova! I kind of like Akiva too. Definitely not something that I would pick, but there is something about it that is attractive to me. I'm not really a big fan of double middle names though. I would probably pick one and save the other for a subsequent child, but that's just me. Just a thought that I had- what about combining those two names and picking one middle name that can kind of honor both, perhaps Helene? So you have the "Helen" part and then the "-een" sound at the end for "Maureen". Or maybe Maren- "Ma-" from Maureen and "-en" from Helen. Just some ideas.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend...
Hugs,
~Victoria

I like the names you picked out. They're rare, but simple, so people will have no trouble pronouncing them. I also think that the 2 mn thing is just fine, especially because they are to honor special people in your life. Good luck!

Victoria,
That's funny, I did think of combining the two middle names last night, but then I felt like it would kind of be not really honouring either...in a weird sort of way.
As for saving one for subsequent children. No way, Jose! Boy or girl we are D.O.N.E.!!!
:o)

I REALLY like your choices!

And I say "Pile on the middle names, if they honor important people!" (Now, if you came here saying "I need two middle names, what do you suggest?" I would say ugh!)

The only downside to two middle names from my point of view -- and DH never let me use two and I tried -- is that when I go to have the baby gift monogrammed for a friend I get a bit confused... but that's not so important! ;)

My dh has two middle names and it's rarely been an issue for him. ITA on smushing the names together - doesn't really honour either of them.

Congrats on really narrowing down your choices (it isn't easy).
