Hi everyone. My name is Amanda and I am expecting my second child in early March, 2005. My DH and I have a DD named Natalie May but we are at such a loss with this second child. Whoever said naming your first child was the most difficult part was so wrong. My DH is John Thomas the IV. Because his family situation was not the best (long story) he is not interested in continuing with the tradtion if this baby is a boy. We definitely know that the MN will be Robert if it is a boy after my maiden name, Robertson, but I still want to honor my DH. Would Ian or Evan (which are forms of John) be weird? Do those names even go with Natalie? I don't want to use Thomas because that's a name of an ex. 2 of my favorite boy names are Matthew and Nathaniel, but they are out because they're too close to our DD's name. Just thought I'd throw them in so you would know my style.
As for girls names, we are so stuck. I love that Natalie is traditional, classic, and not super popular, but popular enough. I really like the names Olivia and Grace, but they just seem too popular, and some of my other favorites seem too out there. As for MNs we will probably use a family/friend's name so I'm not too worried about that.
So does anyone have any other traditional, classic names that go with Natalie?
PS our LN is Carpenter so that knocks out a lot of C and K names cause I hate same letter sounds and initials.
THANK YOU!!!!
Amanda

I love Ian Robert Carpenter. If you really want to use a form of John, you could go with Jonathan (though it's not favorite of mine), Johnson, or Jonah. Or, since this child would be John Thomas, V, if you'd decided to go that route, you could use the name Quint or Quinton (but only you would know that this is after your husband). For the record, thank you for not continuing the legacy. Even though your husband has a great name, 5 generations of men with the same name just indicates egocentrism and a lack of creativity, I think.
My favorite girl names are Estella, Francesca and Rosalie.
Welcome and Congratulations to you!
I love your daughter's name Natalie, very pretty.
Evan is my favorite boys name should I ever have a son and funny is that he would be named Evan Robert (Robert is my husband's name)
Other possibilities:
Mason Robert
Jeremy Robert
Joshua Robert
Zachary Robert
Daniel Robert
Audrey
Hannah
Aliza
Julia
Norah
Nadine
Arianna
Ava
Nerissa
I also like Charlotte and Caroline but i know you said no C or K names.
Hope this helps you out
I like the name Ian a lot, am neutral on Evan, don't like it, don't dislike it. I think Ian Robert would sound great.
girls to match up with Natalie by your criteria (classic, not overly popular) - Angela, Allison, Belinda, Heidi, Johanna, Molly, Melinda.
good luck
I really like Ian Robert. That sounds great, and it's a great way to honor your husband without saddling your child with the designation of being "the fifth" (unless you're royalty, it seems a bit much).
I believe Sean is also a variation of John, so Sean Robert could be another possibility. Also Jack Robert could be a possibility -- I know a lot of people just use Jack as a formal, full name as opposed to a nn (but it's also super popular).
For the record -- how do you see Matthew as being too similar to Natalie? Is it because you call your daughter "Nat" for short, and would call Matthew "Matt"? Because Matthew Robert sounds good, too!
