Honest Opinions on Blake!

I'm positing this for my friend.
Her maiden name was Blake. Which is becoming a common FN. She would like to name her baby Blake whether it male or female. I think that's cool.
But now she's thinking up ways of making Blake more female. And she came up with Blakelynn Marie said like the name Brooklin.
What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks!

I don't like the revamped version at all. I love the original, Blake, especially for a boy, but I think it would be good for a girl too. It's such a strong name, and connotes to me confidence, ability, even athletisicm (Sp?). Just my two cents

I know a little girl named Blakely and she is so cute! The name really fits her. I do not care for Blakelynn but I do like Blakely.

I only like the name Blake on a boy, and I'm sorry to say I don't like either of the variations- Blakelynn or Blakely. They both sound awkward to me when said aloud.

I'd probably leave Blake as is.

I also don't like Blakelynn at all. Blake is great for a boy however IMO is a bit harsh for a girl. How about using it as a middle name for a girl with a more feminine first name?

Ick, I don't like Blakelynn AT ALL. Way too trendy and weird IMO. It's everything I don't like in a name. I like Blake on a boy, but that's it.

Sorry to say it, but I hate the idea of Blake for a girl. It is such a boys name that I don't think it sounds feminine at all. I would have to suggest using it as the middle name, but not a first. I think Blakelynn sounds like someone who is slurring thier words together. I can see Blakely, but still not a favorite. Sorry.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo.

If she wants to honor her family name, then just go with Blake. Pair it with an uber-feminine middle name. To me, using a boys name on a girl (especially if it is a surname with connections) is much classier than a made up name.

jmho, as always!

I'm not a fan of the name to begin with. It's OKAY on a boy..I'd prefer it as a middle name. If she HAS to use it for her girl, I'd suggest she keep it as her middle name.

Ava Blakely

Ivy Blake

Tessa Blakelynn

Hope this helps!
