Hi I have been stuck in the same spot w/ boys names it seems like forever. These include Aaron, Aiden, Ethan, Ian, Luke. I just went all the way through a boys name list and came up with a couple more that just hit me right - Henry, Dominik, Gage. What do you think? I already have 2 kids, Eva & Erik, and want a name that will flow well with their names. Any thoughts or other suggestions? Thanks so much in advance!

I thought "Eva & Erik" sounded quite familiar! No wonder I like Eva and Erik together so much! I almost asked if you had been here before. LOL
Here are my thoughts on your latest post-
"...I too had originally wanted to go with a name that did not start with E...it just worked out that way..." *
**Same thing happened to me with child #2! I wasn't thinking ahead when I named ds#1 a G- name. My second son's name had ALWAYS been picked out-Gainer Michael. I had no choice from dh but to use family name Metz for mn on first child, and we chose fn Grantson. So during pg #2, I realized they were going to have the same initials...which I'm a firm non-beliver in! LOL Also, my fave girl name in the world was Gretchen, and dh LOVED it and here I had gone and named my son Grantson!!! Lucky for me, it was a girl, so I wasn't forced to have sons with same initial...but we had to choose another girl name besides our dear Gretchen. It was a very long struggle...**
"...I like your suggestion of Oliver a lot..."
** I think this is a fabulous fit with others. **
"...Dane..." **Too bad about the family member, 'cause this one is great with others.**
"...boy names...possible mn...honor family..."
**Absolutely! I'm all about the family mn! Especially since Eva & Erik have family mn! Do this at all costs!**
"...only names...Luke, Noel, Sylvester.."
**I love all of these as mn choices actually. I think they're in keeping with Eva & Erik.**
"...originally thought Ian Luke was the best..."
**I love the name Ian, def. in the same vein w/ others. I intensely dislike its similarity in sound to Eva though. Sorry.**
"...I still really like Henry..." ** So do I. Very much. And the five-letter thing!**
Possible combos- Henry Luke, Luke Henry, Oliver Noel, Dominic Luke, Henry Noel???
Preston Luke? Luke Oliver? Rhett Sylvester? Bryant Noel? Bryant Luke?
Also, I forgot to mention **Lars**. This is one I really like with others. Short, classic, simple, and from the same origin as Erik. Lars Sylvester? Lars Noel? I also like Eva, Erik & Kent---Kent Noel, Kent Sylvester. I also LOVE, and can't remember if I suggested earlier, Eva, Erik & Ross.
**Audrey Maren** is positively lovely. In perfect keeping with others. I LOVE the name Maren; definitely wouldn't change this one. Audrey is such a beauty. It's really gaining in popularity right now, I suppose b/c it's such a simple classic. I don't feel compelled at all to tamper with this combo, since it has great flow, fits well with others, and you love it. My only question would be, she is named for family, too, isn't she?
BUT, just for the sake of fun, here are others dd's I can see with Eva & Erik-
I never suggest names I don't like but some of these are REALLY, REALLY great-
Eva, Erik & Margo
Eva, Erik & Gemma
Eva, Erik & Halle
**Eva, Erik & Fiona**- Absolutely love.
Eva, Erik & Holly
Eva, Erik & Nadia
Can you tell I'm stuck on the five-letter thing? Ha!)
Eva, Erik & Scarlett (Great fit!)
Eva, Erik & Bianca
Eva, Erik & Nell
Eva, Erik & Gretchen
Eva, Erik & Camille
Eva, Erik & Minette
Eva, Erik & Vivian
Eva, Erik & Miriam
Eva, Erik & Bridget (LOVE)
Eva, Erik & Corinne (corr-rinn NOT -reen)
Eva, Erik & Collette
Eva, Erik & Simone (Lovely!)
Eva, Erik & Adria/Aidia
Eva, Erik & Naomi
Eva, Erik & Violet (Oooh!)
Eva, Erik & Juliet
Eva, Erik & Kirsten
Eva, Erik & Lois/Lola
*Eva, Erik & Louisa*- This one makes my heart stop! LOL
Eva, Erik & Daria
Eva, Erik & Malena
For some reason, I also really like a long, elegant name for their sis, which actually goes against the short, simple, classic you're going for (???) Explain that! LOL Also, I almost never like nn, but for some reason, in this case, I DO love the following with or without the possible nn!
Eva, Erik & Cassandra (Cass/Cassie)
Eva, Erik & Vanessa
Eva, Erik & Beatrice
Eva, Erik & Josephine (Josie)
Eva, Erik & Tatiana
Eva, Erik & Clarissa/Clarice (Clare)
Eva, Erik & Lillian (Lily)
Eva, Erik & Calista (Callie)
Eva, Erik & Tabatha
Eva, Erik & Samantha
Eva, Erik & Millicent (Millie)
Eva, Erik & Francesca (Frannie) Adore this together! And, it's got the F-! Francesca Maren...(sighing)
I just LOVE putting names with your kids names, LOL, I could go on and on! Please keep me posted on your progress. And, if you don't mind my asking, what are Eva & Erik's mn? That always helps me decide...
Take care, Ginger

#2 (gut feeling it's a girl: Shianna Jade) 4/15/05
Maren is a family name but it is a bit more of stretch...its meaning 'from the sea' is the same as a family member. The other option would be Audrey Noelle - which I really do like but don't love as much as Maren.
I like Henry w/ all three mn choices! I also like Oliver Luke and Oliver Noel. I REALLY don't like 'Ollie' for a nn though and I would be afraid that he would get it. DH seems to really like Gage right now but I don't think any of the mns sound good w/ it.
Seems like there is an overwhelming liking for Ethan. I do really like it but I agree with you that it is way more popular than the other kids names.
What do you think about the name Kirk? Or any other names that carry on the 'k' from Erik? (I think that is why I like Luke so much)
Great suggestions for girls names!!! If this one is a girl and we decide to have one more I'll have to keep some of them in mind!
Thanks!
My first choice at the moment is Eva Faith, Erik Paul & Henry Luke...
Noelle is a gorgeous name, to me. So is Maren.
I used to love Kirk. I don't love it as much now, don't know why... Perhaps b/c I prefer *Burke* or Luke or Dominik. What about Alek? Others- Derrick, Zarek, Zack, Breck, Brock, Kendrick, Merrick- but too similar, Garrick, Jake, Duke, Drake, Broderick, Mark, Tek--- I know there are others, when I think of them-will send.
Gage is a great name. It's ventures a little into the trendy side when compared to others. Not bad though. It'd have to be Gage Sylvester from choices, I suppose.
If you're still considering Ethan, I think you need to do a separate poll asking- Are Eva & Ethan too similar?- Just my opinion.
Stay in touch! Ginger
how about Hendrick nn Henry.. ?
First of all I love the name Ethan. My sister's oldest son's name is Ethan. Her other two sons names are Evan and Eric. I have an almost 5 year old daughter named Emily and am due 2-12-05 with another daughter (90% sure). So I am wanting to go with another E name. I personally like the idea of going with all E names. I am having a hard time with another E name though. My brother's sons name is Aaron. So I can't use Erin too much like Aaron, can't use Erika too much like Eric. My MIL's first name is Eva so we are thinking of maybe Eva Grace of Eva Faith (like your DD) and calling her both names our last name is really short (Hill). To me Eva Hill is so short. We are also considering Eden.
Go with Ethan!!
