Caught some of Maury while I was folding laundry and couldn't help but notice the spellings these mothers chose for their dds:
MaiKyla -- looks like May-Kyla or My-Kyla, and you'd think the "Kyla" part was pretty straightforward, but no. It's a misspelling of Michaela. How she got the -kayla ending sound out of that I'll never know.
Ahriyel -- you read that right. It's Arielle. I can just imagine her sounding it out to come up with such a "unique" spelling. LOL
There was also a woman name Tanella, which literally says "tan Ella," but I would have guessed was ta-NELL-a. No again. Somehow this one was pronounced ta-NEEL-ya. Poor, ignored English language. hehe
The few names with proper spellings were mostly Juniors (at least the grandparents can spell). ;)

But, phonics didn't work for two of the three! Phonics would have been fonks or foneeks, right?
LOL You make a great point. Isn't it sad when all rules of "prynonc'zun" go out the window? ;)
~Kelli (maybe I should change the spelling to Kylai, just for fun? hehe)
