Hope for 1 gender to use certain name?
| Sun, 04-30-2006 - 9:45am |
I would be blessed with a boy or girl, but I have a boy name that we almost used with DS and didn't, but now I kind of regret it b/c he looks more like that name, so now that I'm pregnant again I kind of am wishing for another DS so I can use that name.
Anyone else hope for a certain sex so you can use the name you have picked? I hate to be picky or selfish, and I am so grateful to be able to get pregnant, but the girl name is a major issue with us (completely different tastes) and well, you know how that goes...

Lurker here:
We named our first dd Ashley. I remember looking at her once and saying to dh....she looks like a Samantha. lol He then told me he really liked that name, but it wasn't one we had ever discussed. We were able to use it on our second dd, so I do understand what you mean. :o) Even when we found out we were having a son our third time, I was a little sad I would never get to use the name we picked for a girl. I got over it quick, but I was excited to use my mom's and MIL's middle names combined for our dd's middle name. If our son was a girl her name would have been Sydney LeeAnn. Lee (mom's middle name) Ann (MIL's middle name)
I just love names and it was one of my favorite things about being pg. My tastes have changed over the years big time. I would never pick "Ashley" these days, but it fits my dd and that's who she is, so I *do love it for her. She was born in '91. Lots of Ashley's back then. lol
De Ann....Mom to:
Ashley Elizabeth (14) Samantha Marie (10) Ethan Edwin Briscoe (4)
I was wishful that #3 would be another DD, I had a name picked instantly-- and didn't even know where to start for a boy name. (I hard a semi-hard time naming the first two). Sure enough, the ultrasound said boy... so you never know!!! But I guess if it wasn't for that, I never would have come upon this board!!!

I hope you're right! I had thought the opposite...that b/c I have a boy name and such a difficult time with a girl name that means it's definitely a girl! Murphy's Law type thing, ya know? I have an appt today and I may cave and find out b/c if it is a girl we have some serious deliberating ahead of us. LOL!
