Hoping to get opinions on Ella Pearl

Hi! I am due in August and we are starting to toss some names around. We have liked Ella for quite awhile and we can't find anything that we like better so it keeps coming back to the top of our list. My dh's grandma's name is Pearl and he was exceptionally close to her growing up so he really wants to honor her in the naming. Her middle name is Ferris so we pretty much only have the first name of Pearl to work with. Our son is Jackson Reese (we call him Jack) and Reese is a family name on my side so I am also wanting the next little one to have a family middle name. What does everyone think of the name Ella Pearl? I am also open to other first name suggestions with the middle name of Pearl. I would like something simple and classic to go with Jack as a big brother. Thanks for all your thoughts and please don't be afraid to be brutally honest.

REALLY REALLY like it! I love Ella and I love "older" names especially when honoring someone. I know a little Sonia Pearl and I know a little girl whose first name is Pearl. Sounds great to me! Good luck!

I LOVE Ella Pearl. It is just adorable. Sounds great with Jack too. Another name that came to mind is Lily Pearl.

I think Ella Pearl is just beautiful! I like Ella more than the very popular Emma. Plus, she will be able to say that she has the same name as Ella Fitzgerald (jazz legend) and a similar name to Eleanor Roosevelt. Pearl is also a lovely name, and they flow together really well.

It is very cute, but I have to warn you, it is *getting* more popular. I know of 2 Ellas born recently, and also quite a few Stellas and Bellas (I live in the Northeast). Also, with Isabella so popular, I am sure there will be more girls nicknamed Ella by the time they hit school-age. But if that's not a concern for you, go for it!

Actually Ella Ferris is better than Ella Pearl. I don't think Pearl will ever outgrow the "old lady " status it has.

I think it's beautiful.

When I named my 2nd DD I wanted to name her Abigail Lily, after three different grandmothers. FIL's mother was Lily. When I told FIL I thought he would be pleased, but told me that his mother had always wished that her name was Lillian instead of Lily. He said that it would mean a lot to him if we used Lillian instead of Lily, so that's what we did. At the time I really didn't like Lillian as much as Lily because I thought of it as an old lady's name. I never imagined that it would have the rise in popularity that it has now. I bet that Pearl will make a similar comeback. Even if it doesn't, Pearl is still a great name - very dignified.

Ella has become quite popular, but adding Pearl makes it an incredibly special and wonderful name. Would you consider calling her Ella Pearl as a double name instead of just calling her Ella?

It's beautiful. Congratulations. By the way, this is a tough crowd to please here, though we try to be polite about names we don't like. Ella Pearl seems to be getting major applause from most people. You should be very proud!
