My DD has recently made friends with a new girl in her class called Kourtnie, she has 5 siblings - Kloe, Kallum, Konnor, Karlee and Karter.

I could not believe my ears when her mum was telling me how "unique" and "one of a kind" this made her children look. I was quietly gagging on the inside! Imagine if they were simply Courtney, Chloe, Callum, Connor, Carly and Carter still awfully confusing, but at least it dosent look so ridiculous! oh well, each to thier own.

ITA, I think that taking a classic spelling of a name and trying to make a "classic" unique" is simply ridiculous. It doesn't make the child's name "unique" because there are still piles of Courtney's Carter's and Chloe"s running around. What it does do IMVHO is make the parent's appear illiterate and the child doomed to spend the rest of their life correcting the spelling of their names. There are some names that have different spellings in different parts of the world, like Michaela also spelt Makayla either way looks good, but twisting it and spelling like Michayla is just wrong.

Wow, that is pretty bad. I really like Callum and Courtney, but those spellings with those sibs are NMSAA! The best part is definitely that she thinks it makes them "unique". How can one be unique in a family where all their names start with the same (misspelled) letter and sound so similar?

curious what that mom think of the Kardashians? they're all K names too (except the boy) Khloe, Kourtney, Kim, Robert, Kendall, Kylie..well only two are cr8tive spellings.

(hate admitting i've watch this studip reality show, but tv is so boring lately, settle on something late-night...oh and they make me glad i'm a normal American in real America-no offense to anyone in L.A., just meant in deranged LaLaLand)

That's horrible. It's one to have your kids' names start with the same first letter, but the whole K instead of a C thing looks even more ridiculous that many times over. And to top it off, they even gave Kourtnie and Karlee creative endings!

People should ALWAYS consider how their child's name will look on a resume someday.

That is unfortunate.
