How to and who decides?

My husband and I have been discussing names and not sharing with either parents because we are tired of there input. You know like I would like this name because your dad wouldn't let me name you that or if I would have had a girl it would have been this. So we decided to tell them we are deciding and after the birth they will find out what it is because we don't know the sex either. Anyway

my husband for a girl would like Leigha or Leeah Rae
and I would like Josie ????

for the boy we agree on either Brock Mitchell Eisenhower
or Brock Allen

Any suggestions???????

I love the name Leah, but not with either of those spellings. Leah is very pretty, not too common, and the Biblical spelling. The other looks silly to me and would be mispelled constantly! I like Josie a lot, even more as a nn for Josephine.

With your boys names I prefer Brock Mitchell, sounds great!

I really like Leesh Rae and Brock Mitchell (Brock Allen too)!!
We are looking at Breaden Mitchell or Breaden Alexander for a boy. I just want to point out what I noticed the other day and I am torn about and you may be too...
BM are the initals for Breaden Mitchell and Breaden Alexander (with our last name) initials are BAR. Of course my hubby thought BAR was ok, but was not ok with BM.
Nobody may never notice, but I was not sure if I am ok with it. What are your thoughts?? I love my names (yours too) but not sure if this is an issue that will bother me.

Well, if you go w/ Leigha or Leeah I would recommend using the traditional spelling of Leah. Looks better & wouldn't be a spelling issue. If you MUST go w/ one of those other spellings I like Leigha better ... definitely NOT Leeah!

I like Leah over Josie too.

I especially like Brock Allen. Strong and confident comes to mind. Although the girls names are pretty, I prefer the traditional spelling of Leah. Good luck.

I've been telling DH that if we can't decide by the time the baby is born I'm deciding. He said it's not fair, but the baby automatically gets his LN and it's my body that had to get all the hormone injections, egg retrieval and embryo transfer, morning sickness (even though it wasn't bad), big belly and all the other discomforts, so I should get to decide. I am making every effort to come up with a name that we can agree on, though. Besides, I named all our cats and I did I pretty good job if I do say so myself. LOL.

Well, ideally you decide together, could you compromise a bit?

Sorry but you guys are right on the spelling he would like it Leah Rae, so that is fine now its just trying to decide which way to go only 11 days till due date.

The boys name doesn't matter I like both Brock Mitchell was something we liked but I thought about Brock Allen because Allen is his middle name.

Thanks for all the suggestions though and good luck to all of you.

Ready and waiting. Its been 13 years since I've gone through all of this how quickly you forget sometimes what it was like.

Take care and god bless all of you

I love the suggestion of Leah Josephine. What a nice combo of both of your faves! and I Like the sounds of Brock Allen and Brock Mitchell but vote for Allen since it is after Dh. Where does Eisenhower come in, is that your ln? if it is... I must say I do not care for Josephine Eisenhower. It sounds very "old" to me. Much prefer Leah ( this spelling) over Jospehine as a fn.

HTH and good luck... its hard to agree on a name but its not his fault he couldnt go thru all the physical stuff you've gone thru for this baby... dont hold that against him.

I agree, you're smart for not discussing it with the parents or allowing yourself to be influenced by their suggestions.

as far as Leigha or Leeah, the name is OK, but not those spellings. Leigha is really strange, Leeah not quite as bad, but the regular Leah or even Lia would be much better.

Josie sounds like a nickname for something, although personally can't stand that Josephine is coming back, it's just so ooooold sounding - like someone that should be at least in their 90s. Josette is an alternative or Josetta - you could put Leigh (without the a) in the middlle.

I like Brock Mitchell better than Brock Allen. is Eisenhower the last name? If not, I don't see the necessity of it as third name with Brock Mitchell.

good luck.

Yes Eisenhower is the last name. To bad we weren't related to the old president lol

Thanks for the input and yes Leah spelling is how he would like it..
