Hello Everyone,
How did you decide on a baby name. We are having a really hard time deciding. I am not pregnant yet. We will be trying soon. But, I like to plan ahead. I am looking for both boy and girl names and how you chose them. Thanks for your help! Sincerely, Michelle

Hi Michelle -

I have 3 dd. DH & I had a hard time deciding on a boy's name. I guess it was good that we have all girls.

My 1st dd - we had a few names,Samantha was in the running( my dh saw the name

Well, I'm no help :) I've had a list of my favorite names for years. I always wanted to have two little boys first, named Christopher and Nicholas. Soo.....I married DH and he gave me a (step)son called Christopher, so it was perfect. And when I got pregnant w/ our 2nd son (my 1st, of course) it was like Fate was screaming at me "Christopher and Nicholas! Christopher and Nicholas!" (see how beautiful they sound together? lol) So, I did it :)

Then I just made a list of A names (for some reason I was convinced he needed a middle name starting w/ A) and gave it to DH, and he chose Aidan.

My husband & I each took a piece of paper with a "boy" column & a "girl" column & wrote the names we liked-when we compared them we only kept names that we both had on our lists & chose from those. We had a really hard time with girls names & really easy time picking boys-thanks goodnes we had 2 boys!!

We knew we wanted to use family names, if possible (some of ours, of course, are doozies!). For our first born, my husband wanted to use his grandfather's name and my maiden name. We found out ahead of time that the baby was a boy, so I didn't really dwell on a girl's name. When we got pregnant with our second son, we had a harder time. Since our oldest son's first name was from my husband's side and his mn was from my side, we decided to switch it for our second son. We used my grandfather's name for his first name. My DH's other grandfather's name didn't work as well, so we chose his father's middle name instead. It worked out that both boys have a name from all four grandparents' families. I don't know what we would have done for a girl!

I think it will just come to you. I'm not sure if planning is the way to go. I thought I was having a girl and was thinking about naming her Kristana b/c I saw the name on a magazine cover and I thought it sounded different but then went with Jaiden for my son. My sister's co-worker son's name is Jaiden and I fell in love with it.
