How do you make your DH come around?

I've had the hardest time choosing a name for our girl (due in nearly 4 weeks!) because my DH and I just can't seem to agree on much.

So I posted a poll recently that many of you voted on (THANK YOU!!!) that had an interesting result...the name I love (Elise) got more than 40% of the votes (I listed 7). The next highest name voted for (Chloe) got only 20% (which was still almost twice as much as the next name). He prefers Chloe over Elise. He just doesn't think Elise is feminine enough (he wants a real girly girl name). I prefer Elise over Chloe for a few reasons...I have been leaning away from the "k" sounding names because we already have 2 (plus a dog). Also, Chloe is on the top 25 names and I don't want a name that will be super-popular where there are 5 in her class - is it that common? His top two now are Chloe and Halle. In the end, I could agree to either, but would prefer Elise.

With that being said...any thoughts on how to make a DH to come around? I'm tempted to take a poll from family members (although I'm typically against this) hoping that if he see's the positive reaction from them on Elise, he might come around. Of course, it could backfire, but then I guess I don't have much of a leg to stand on. Maybe I just wait until he see's how hard I have to work to get her out and ask again. :-)

THANKS!

PS) What's a good mn with Elise? Our last name is greek and 4 syllables.

I think Elise is VERY feminine, more feminine than Chloe to my ears.

I did know an Elisa once - would that be more feminine for your DH?

I'm not sure I have any advice on how to win over your DH, though. I like all three names.

I don't know how Elise is not feminine - it'd certainly pity any boy who'd be named that

Although Chloe is in the top 25 - is it really? I only know a handful here and there - it's not super popular in my area

Halle is probably the least popular on its own but it soooooo similar to the super popular Hailey - and the only reason Hailey isn't higher on the social security list is because they list each spelling as it's own listing and there are at least 20 spellings of Hailey in the top 1000 - Hailey, Hayley, Hailie, Haylie, Hali, Halie, Haley, Haleigh (yuck) - and son on. if they were lumped together - it'd have to be in the top 10 - that's the name I hear in my area so much it's up with Madison around here

anyhow, I don't know how to break the tie for you - what are you two K/Hard C names? maybe knowing those would send my opinion one way or the other

as far as middle names for Elise - you say

Are you wanting to pronounce Elise -- "EE - leese" or " Uh - leese".

I agree with the other responses....How could the name Elise not be feminine? With that said, my niece is actually named Else Mae.

Thanks for all your input! My husband is Kristian and my son is Kaiden (pronounced kay-den, not to mention dog Kobi). I've leaned away from the "k" sounding names since I'm not into the matchy matchy thing, but that seems to be the names that pop up on our list. (the dog came first and we just liked Kaiden). Our last name is pronounced (fo-top-o-lus) - 4 syllables and thought Elise sounded nice with it. Do you disagree? I think Chloe sounds nice as well. The key is a 2-syllable first name with such a long last name. For middle names, I agree, it would need to have the accent on the 2nd part of the name (such as Marie - which is my MIL's mn or Renee - which happens to be MY mn - too bad I don't care for either one). You have a very good sense for what flows well (wouldn't have thought to avoid the s in a mn, but it makes sense). ;-)

Another strategy I thought of to get my DH to crossover was to wait until he see's how hard I need to work during labor to get her out and ask again. :-)

Who knows, we may end up with Chloe Elise. I might be a little tounge-tied in my household, but I still like it. I think I like it better than Halle Elise...although with all these hormones I keep changing my mind every day! :-)
