How do you like your OWN name?

As I'm stressing about names, I'm wondering how my child will like his/her name as he/she gets older. I think it'd be interesting to hear from everyone - how did your parents do in naming YOU?

I'll start - My name is Heidi LeAnn, and while I liked the fact that there were no other "Heidi's" in my class, I got tired of references to a swiss girl skipping through the alps crying for her grandfather. :) I also think that Heidi Ann would have been better than with the extra syllable "Le" - it just seems to flow a little better.

How about you ladies?

My Little Man.  His name is Kaleb Pershing - we call him KP.

My name is Terra, meaning earth. I've always liked my name and the spelling. I think it looks much nicer than Tara. :)

Good question.....My name is Theresa Ann. A lot of people call me Terrie instead of Theresa though. I prefer Theresa, but those in my family have called me Terrie since I've been a child, so it isn't going anywhere. Theresa has never been a popluar name, but there were others in school, not in the same grade though. I have no complaints and am glad that they didn't name me what they had planned on, which was Janis Gracie. I just don't see myself with that name. (Besides, the only Janice I knew growing up, I couldn't stand!)

My name is Suzanne Elizabeth. I kind of liked my name growing up but I was the only one all the time which I didnt really like. I have alot of nicknames with my name, Suzy is the most popular, and my family calls me Susu and Suzy-Q. And I really like having nicknames. But I hate it when people call me Susan, its Suzanne. No one calls Joanne's, Joan.

Great question! My name is Elliott, after my grandfather. And yes, I am a female. My parents had planned to call me Ellie, but decided against it after I was born. I actually really like it now that I'm older, though it usually takes a while for people to get used to. I get a lot of funny looks when I introduce myself, like people think I'm joking. But I appreciate that it's different...

I'm Kate Eliza, and I think it's a terrific name. Having just a "nickname" is problematic when filling out forms and the like, since people often assume I meant to write Katherine. I end up showing my driver's license more often than not. But it's worth it.

Interesting topic. :)

My parents named me Kelli, and chose the different spelling because Kelly was also popular for boys in our area at the time (which always bugged me when I ran into one, btw LOL). I've never really liked having such a popular name (my own SIL has the same exact fn and ln as me, only spelled Kelly of course LOL), but I can't really imagine some other name I'd like better. I am very glad to have the Kelli spelling though ... it just fits (and looks much more feminine to me), so good job there Mommy. ;)

Oh, and my mn is Ann ... just Ann (like so many other girls I know). I also never liked that I had TWO popular names growing up, but consoled myself with the thought that Ann is also my grandmother's mn (although my parents just used it because they liked it, not specifically to name me "after" her, but it's still a nice link).

Great question.

I am Jodi Lynn. I guess I like my name, I never really thought about it before this. I think it fits me & my personality. I always wanted a flashier middle name, but my mothers name is Linda, so hence Lynn. I also only knew one other Jodi in high school, so that was kinda nice. Oh...I just met an eight year old Jodi, I was so excited since I never hear my name being used for babies.

I love my name. It is Krista Lynn. I have always had to spell it though because people try to spell it with a Ch or try to put something else on the end like a y, i ,ie, ina, in. I like that I have always been the only one with the name and yet it isn't too out there. I was almost Holly Noel because I was born 4 days before Christmas. My older brother saved me and told my mom she had to use Krista because he had already told his friends.

Good Topic!

My name is Laura Lea (pronounced Lee). I have always liked my name more often than not. There was a grade or two (around 2nd grade) where I wanted to go by Lea, but always reverted back to Laura. Most people pronounce my name Laura Lea(h) which I always thought was odd.

I never ran into too many other Laura's in my classes. I think only one year was there another one in the same class as me. I do tend to get called Lori, Laurie, and Lauren a lot. And when I say my name over the phone, people don't seem to understand what I am saying, so I always have to spell it. But all in all, I like my name, and I will stick with it!
