How many Charlotte's?

My DH has added Charlotte to our list. I really like it, and also like the fact that we could use Charlotte Evelyn (his grandma's name). I'm almost positive that this will become one of the next "big" names. That would be the only thing that would keep me from using it. Just wondering how many Charlotte's you know and what their ages are? Also, just to compare it to a name that I loved at one time, how many Ava's do you know? Thanks!!

The only Charlotte I can think of is DH's aunt, so she's probably about 50. Even in my online communities, I can only think of one baby Charlotte (less than a year old). I think Charlotte is a great name, and if it weren't for DH's aunt, we might have considered it. (She's an aunt by marriage, and we just didn't want her to think we were naming a baby after her.)

Now, Ava is a different story. Not counting the Avas among celebrity babies, I know of two under-three Avas and one not yet born. Add that to the Eve/Evie/Evelyn/Genevieve, and I see it around quite a bit. Only one of the Avas lives near me, but I seem to hear those names tossed around a lot more in online groups.

I know two Charlottes; one is 28 and the other is in her forties.
I know two Avas as well, both under 2.

According to the Baby Name Voyager Ava is a heck of a lot more popular than Charlotte. Ava is ranked 25 and Charlotte is ranked 172.

I have yet to meet a single Charlotte and have only known one Ava personally (she's in her 50s or 60s now). Of course, I don't know a single Abigail, either, other than our two-week-old (despite it's apparently-huge popularity). Perhaps these names just aren't quite as popular in my area? HTH!

I agree with you. I think Charlotte will continue to make huge jumps in the next two years...into the top 20 for sure. I live in the Boston area and I know 6 (YES, SIX!!) Charlottes under the age of 3, plus a newborn in NYC, and a 1 year old in Washington DC. It's insane.

I know only 1 Ava... not counting all the celebrities, but obviously I'm not hanging out with Reese Witherspoon and Heather Locklear. :)

But I love, love, love the name Charlotte Evelyn... so you should just use it!!

I don't know any Charlotte's. I've heard of one Ava, I don't know her but when I took my daughter to swimming lessons I heard her name being called. She was maybe 2.
I much prefer Ava over Charlotte.

I have a Charlotte...she's 2 and a half. I didn't know any when she was born but we keep running into them...on the beach, in her tumbling class. I think you're right about it being one of the next big names. It is an old name which will keep it from being trendy...but it won't keep it from being popular (see Emily, Emma and Elizabeth!)

Charlotte is gorgeous. The only Charlotte I can think of who I ever knew in my lifetime was a girl who must be about 15 now. Charlotte Evelyn is beautiful.

I think Maria's comment was an interesting one. I belive Charlotte is more popular in New England than other areas of the country....Massachusetts. Connecticut, Rhode Island, etc. If you check the SSA state lists you will find Charlotte higher up on those lists than it is nationally. So it makes sense that she knows 6 around Boston and one in NYC--and I run into them when we vacation on Cape Cod. We live in Mississippi for most of the yr and there are less here.

I don't know any Charlotte's or Ava's. I prefer Ava over Charlotte. Ava is okay but I really dislike Charlotte. It seems sooo old-fashioned to me. I guess I do have a 3rd cousin named Charlotte that lives out east and when I was younger and visited I thought it was old-fashioned then, too. I don't think it suits a baby, toddler, child, teenager, or a young adult. I see it as an old lady's name...sorry.
