How popular is the name Grayson? How many do you know or know of? There is 1 on my son's soccer team so he's 6-7 yrs old. That's the only one I know. TIA!

Your right. I only know one girl that is named Gracyn and the rest are boys. I guess it's like the pp commented. I think the "ss" sound makes me think female. It's a nice name for either but I do still think "girl". I think that I like it better for a mn. It works well with alot of very masculine names.

Hey There Terra,

I have only known one Grayson and he is 5 or 6 now. DH & I like the name but he said everytime he did something clumbsy he would end up calling him "Grace". It is a cute name, never heard of it for a girl though. But it seems that girls are starting to steal all of the boys names leaving us with slim pickings! Good luck.

It is a little popular where I am from, it isn't a Jacob, or Josh yet, but since we have a town called Grayson near by, I know of a few. There was about three where I used to work. One of them is about 6 now, the other two are probably about three now.

Your not the only one who thinks it sounds girly, when I mentioned to my sister that I kind of liked it, but would never use it because of the town near us, she said, "oh I don't like that on a boy, I would be afraid people would shorten it to Gracie, which is a girls name"

If anyone was to shorten it I would think they would shorten it to Gray. At least I would if it was on a boy. Although if I was told his name was Grayson then I would name him Grayson, lol.

Well for example we have friends that have a little boy named Luke (not Lucas/Lukas, just Luke), and his babysitter and grandparents call him Lukie as a pet name. So even though it wouldn't be a true nn, Grayson could be shortened to many things in pet form. Of course you wouldn't just make up a nn for a child you just met, you would indeed call him Grayson.
