I would just name him Edwin Jayden (although that is a little too sing-songy for my taste), and call him Jayden or Jay, like PP suggested. My brother's name is William Scott, as William is a family name on our mother's side; he goes by Scott.
I think you should name your child a name that you and your husband both agree on. If you use a name you don't love you may regret it later when it is too late to change it. I think that naming your child a name that you don't love just to please your MIL is the worst thing you could do. Your MIL had her turn chosing names for her children and now it's your turn to chose names for your children. My mother gave in to naming her oldest children what her MIL at the time pretty much ordered her to name them( my brother after his dad and my sister after our mom). My Mom has regreted it ever since and says how much she wishes she would have stood up to her MIL.
I really don't like the name Edwin either, however the name Jayden is adorable. Good luck with making your decision.

I've never been one to be a fan of the whole Sr, Jr, III, etc.
