...called Jacob Jake yesterday. He's in my sister's year at school so she told me what his middle name was.

I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like that before. If I've ever come into contact with someone with a name like that, I guess it hasn't been so obvious that it was the "same" name.

I have heard of that a couple of times with first and last names, but never with first and middle.
I knew a Andrew Andrews (went by Andy)
A Johnathan John (seriously went by John)
A Kelly Kelly (but she married into that)

Always thought it was weird!

I've never seen the first and middle thing, either, though I know a Matt Mathews and a Lars Larsen. I just don't know why it would seem like a good idea!

Wow! I can't believe someone would actually do that to their kid. I mean, obviously, there are worse things out there like being named Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee's kid)....but STILL. There are so many cool and really nice names out there...just seems like the parents didn't give it much thought. Even if they DID give it thought, it just comes across as them not giving it any thought, KWIM?

I knew a Thomas Thomas in college who went by Tom. I have a friend due this spring with a dd that she's planning to name Lucy Louise...not quite as obvious, but I know several people who've used Lucy as a nn for Louise. I haven't shared any opinion other than that I love the name Lucy. :) But I do think that Lulu would be a really cute nn...

I have known a few people with names like this.
Lucas Lucas ( went by Luke) was about 7 or 8 years old when I knew him a few years back, brother, Marcus Lucas
I went to school not long ago with twins Danny and Donny Donaldson.
I know two females.. Samantha (Sam) Sams and Samantha Samson and I know a Morris Borris.
I also feel like I'm forgetting someone.. but that might be all. :)

I think his parents were trying to original or something, I don't think naming a child like that is very nice to them. That would be like my name being Jennifer Geneveive, Geneveive is the root of my first name.

It's weird and....weird......was he cute(lol)

Are you sure that was his middle name, and not a nickname?

Actually, it would be like your name being "Jennifer Guenevere". ^_~

While it's possible Genevieve is a form of Guenevere, it isn't certain. :)
