OK... We couldn't decided on a name for a long time! We finally have one that we both love and we loved it the last time we were pregnant too.... Noah. The only problem is that my mother is friends with this lady who has a 1 year old named Noah. I would feel really bad naming our baby the same as her's but it's the only name that we agree on!! And my mother is not THAT good of friends with her, the just speak every couple of months! WHAT SHOULD WE DO?! Is it wrong??

Noah is such a popular name right now that I don't think anybody can lay claim to it.

If the other child's name was something more unusual, like Taggart, Walden or Lawler (just a few examples not even in the SSA's top 1000), and you wanted to use the same one, I could see the problem. But when you're talking about a name that's overwhelmingly popular, like Noah, I don't see the issue.

I mean, it may seem a bit strange to your mom at first, assuming she's not around a lot of other infants/small children, but it's a bit like parents reconsidering Emily or Jacob because they happen to know one (when in reality, their child will probably grow up with dozens with the same name, so if they're comfortable with that popularity in general, already knowing just one shouldn't be that big an issue, KWIM?).

I literally know at least half a dozen Noahs under the age of two, and it's incredibly popular in religious circles (if someone at my mother's church is expecting a boy, it's a pretty safe bet what his name will be LOL). Now if you're already aware of that and it doesn't bother you, I don't think your mother knowing one other little Noah is really that problematic.
