I need some baby name advice!!!
| Thu, 03-15-2007 - 1:35pm |
Hi everyone! We are expecting our 4th baby in 3 weeks and we don't have our names picked out yet. We don't know the sex of the baby. We are looking for a name that goes well with the 3 names we have now. Our kids now are: Jackson (boy) Savannah (girl) and Sawyer (boy). The ideas we have for this baby are for girl: Brooklyn, Cassidy, Saylor. Boy ideas are: Dawson, Holden, Hayden, Weston and Ryder. So.....we need opinions, other ideas and middle name ideas!!! By the way, our last name is Wallace if that helps. THanks so much!!

I would vote for Saylor for a girl if you didn't have a Sawyer - those are too similar.
Hadley or Brinley come to mind as options for girls.
I like Holden for a boy. I also really like Weston, but I'm not sure it's a good match for your last name.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
With Jackson, Savannah, and Sawyer Wallace...
Brooklyn- UGH. Way too trendy, on its way to outdated.
Cassidy- Boring
Saylor- Too cutesy. Also, I would avoid another S name seeing as you already have two.
Dawson- Like this a lot, goes really well with the 'country' feel of your other kids' names
Holden- Love this as well. Makes me think of Catcher in the Rye - great book!
Hayden- I would avoid any -aden name (Aidan, Caden, Hayden, Jaden, Braden, etc) They are WAY overdone
Weston- Weston Wallace isn't the greatest as a whole. I would probably avoid a W name with ln Wallace
Ryder- This also works with the 'country' feel... although I always think "ride her", which obviously isn't the greatest association
I think you have a great boy's list, many nice choices! Dawson, Holden, and Ryder all work very nicely. If I could add to that list... Ashton, Carson, Beckett, Bennett, Leland, Leander, Anders, Wesley, Wade, Leo, and Thane go nicely as well. I have to say that I really don't like your girl's list. There are a ton of girls names that are really trendy and just have a trashy feel to them, so I would definitely avoid those names. How about...

I hope you see something you like. What are you thinking in terms of mn's? Got any family names that could work?

ETA that I have to agree with the PP, Saylor is way too close to Sawyer

Love the names you chose for the three you already have. You should prob avoid S names since you have two already.
I like Hayden for a boy or girl. I love Ryder for a boy. The girl names don't feel like they fit with Jackson, Savannah, and Sawyer.
Also for boys:
Hudson
Brody
Girls:
Faith
Charlotte
Aubrey
McKenna, McKenzie
Finley
Ainsley
With Jackson, Savannah and Sawyer:
Brooklyn -- unless you're actually from Brooklyn, I'd definitely avoid it (and if you are, it'd be a bit odd for your dd to have the same name as the place you live)
Cassidy -- of these three, this would get my vote easily. It works well with your other three, without being too matchy.
Saylor -- quite the opposite ... this one IS too matchy (almost sounds the same as Sawyer, and I wouldn't use another S when you already have two, and one lone J). ;)
Dawson -- unless their fathers really are named Jack/John and David, this seems soooo odd. It just screams "I had no idea what the names meant but thought they sounded cool!" KWIM? Doesn't come across as classy in the least. In short, you might want to avoid another -son name.
Holden -- the best of the bunch. A great name, and it completely works with the surname thing you have going with the other boys. Wonderful.
Hayden -- too trendy, though a nice name otherwise. I prefer Holden here.
Weston -- too much W with Wallace (sorry, Sir William! LOL).
Ryder -- "ride her." Enough said.
Other suggestions:
Assuming you're from Georgia or have some other fondness for the area, using Savannah and Jackson for two of your children and having Dawson on your current list, perhaps another such Georgia city name would appeal.
Ailey -- though this is very nicknamey
Augusta
Camilla
Helena
Mora
Rebecca
Rochelle
Valdosta/Valona -- I could see some of the Val- cities used as names, and the people in Valdosta are very nice, so I threw these in ;)
Alston
Ambrose
Bogart
Brooks -- since you obviously like the Brook- sound
Clayton
Dalton
Everitt/Everett
Graham -- possible nn Gray
Griffin -- though I'd avoid the nn Finn with Sawyer ;)
Hagan
Lenox
Lincoln
Logan
Monroe
Montgomery
Morgan
Perry
Preston
Reid
To go along with the surname feel you obviously like, you might also consider some other occupational or place names like Fletcher, Thatcher (perhaps a bit much with Sawyer, again), Dean, Marshall, Darcy/Darcey, Deacon, Harper, Millard or Theron.
HTH ;)

I would never have thought of Holden, but I love it - and it sounds great with your other kids' names. Great choice - my favorite by far from your list. I would definitely avoid a W name with Wallace as the last name, plus (just my opinion) Jackson and Weston sound a bit "matchy."
I would also definitely avoid Saylor. Sawyer and Saylor sound way too "matchy" to me, plus (despite the spelling of Saylor) Sawyer and Saylor are matchy in the occupation sense. Brooklyn and Cassidy sound a bit dated (again, just one person's opinion). What about Cassandra? Charlotte? Audrina? Melissa?
I hope you find a name that you love. Best of luck!

I agree with a lot of the PPs' comments.
I like Holden the best of your boy choices and Weston is OK
I wouldn't do Saylor for a girl at all, and then you'd have three S's and one J - that would seem a little odd
Cassidy is OK, it goes well with the other names
