I feel exactly the same way! The first thing I always think of when I hear the name Mason, is the Freemasons, that "secret society."

Maybe your right that it is a little masculine however I would still disagree that it could be a for a girl.

Actually, Maison is the French word for "house," correctly pronounced may-zone (roughly.) So it's not just a different spelling--it's a whole other word!

I don't think there is anything wrong with the name Mason for a girl. I knew a girl in high school, whose middle name was Mason (it was Elaine Mason) and we all thought it was cool. Kelsey Grammer, the tv star, has a daughter named Mason. It is definitely used more for boys, but so are Hunter, Camreron, etc. but they are perfectly acceptable for girls as well.

I think Macy/Macie is a cute name too. It brings to mind visions of shopping in New York City at Christmastime for me...

Yeah...ummm...take a poll and see how many people know the meaning of Avery and then see how many people know the meaning of Mason. I think you will see the difference. I'm not trying to be mean its just way different.

My thoughts exactly. Especially if they call her Maisie! That implies they pronounce Maison correctly, as the French word for "house." No one I know would pronounce Maison the same as Mason.
