Congratulations! I think our daughter will be coming from China. Once my hubby finally agrees! Adoption is an awesome way to build a family. My boys are from Korea and it's been the best thing we ever could have done.
All your names are lovely so you can't go wrong, whatever you choose.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. So glad to know you have no regrets with the International Adoption. To be honest, I'm in a dilemma with the name and wish not to discuss my choices with anyone too close. If they don't like the name and I chose it anyway, I can imagine both of us will be remembering their comment the first time I introduce the friend/family member/co-worker to my new baby girl.
I've found myself stuck on Lily, but don't particularly care for Lillian and my chosen variation, Liliana, doesn't quite flow with the LN. But I also love a name with a syllable of Bella. Particularly Isabella or Gabriella. But once again, doesn't flow with the LN.
I'm sure it'll work out. In the meantime, thank you again for your message and best of luck to you with your next adoption.
Congrats on your adoption.
Congratulations!!
I had some thoughts on a few names/combos that you may want to consider.
I read in a previous post, that you arent too crazy about Lily, i have another idea.
How about -- Lilah --- ?
Lilah Rose --- Lilah Kathryn ---- Lilah Grace ---- Lilah Elizabeth
Ava Kathryn --- Julianna Teresa.
hth! danielle
Thank you for the wonderful suggestions. I'll add yours to the list from which I'll eventually choose. Absolutely love Annabelle! Darling name, isn't it? Unfortunately, my mother owns a Welsh Corgie called Annabelle, and I don't think she'd be willing to adopt out the dog, so that I can use the name when I adopt in a daughter! (ha, ha)
(However...I did consider asking)
Thanks again!
OMG...

Lily,
Great to receive your message. My home study & additional paperwork has been completed and am now waiting for the next phase of the process. So daunting trying to chose a name that will fit the baby AND the individual she'll become. I may refrain from actually settling on one particular name until I get the referral and see what Chinese name she's been given. Then try to work from that. Juli, Li, Lian, etc.
As stated before, Lily, is one of my favorites but I've been thinking of Elizabeth with a NN of Ellie. Not conventional for Elizabeth, I know, but it appeals to me nonetheless.
I've always been drawn to girls names that are elegant and feminine. But for the boys, I love the old-fashioned and simple ones the best:
Jack
Sam (Samuel)
Nate (Nathaniel)
Mac (for my Scottish mother)
Ethan
Andrew
Evan
Christopher
Ian
Best of luck to you and your husband. I'll keep you posted as things progress and which name I'll eventually chose. Since our name choices are so similiar, if more ideas come to mind, feel free to share. I'd love to receive them.
That sounds like a great plan...how exciting to hear what her Chinese given name is! That would be wonderful to integrate it into one of your favorites!
I like the idea of using Ellie as a nickname for Elizabeth! My mom (doesn't know we are TTC yet, but we have fun thinking up names together) recently suggested Ellie Ann. I like Ellie, but it didn't feel right to me for it to stand alone and Ellen is not really my style. But using it for Elizabeth (or my other fave Elise, even!) is a great idea! I like that!
How exciting!! I really like Devon's idea of somehow incorporating her given Chinese name (assuming she has one) as a middle name or second middle name. I really like a lot of your names both in your combos and mixed and matched. I think Liliana Marie is pretty, but Marie is a fairly common "filler" middle name it seems like (I have a LOT of friends with the middle name Marie for no reason at all). I do like Liliana Rose a lot. Elizabeth is another really pretty classic with lots of nickname possibilities and Elizabeth Eve (a spin on Ava) would be really pretty. Good luck with the adoption, I hope all goes well!
