Input on names for twin girls
| Mon, 10-02-2006 - 10:00am |
Hi there! I am due with twin girls in a few weeks and would love some input. My guidelines are a two syllable name that doesn't end in a vowel sound as our last name starts with a vowel and it doesn't sound right. I'm looking for names that are mostly classic sounding without being overused. I have a four year old son named Zachary and I love his name even though there are a few too many other Zacharys around.
Here is my short list:
Annette
Justine
Celeste
Charlotte
Laurel
Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!
Jennifer

Hello and congratulations.
My best friend since kindergarten is having twin girls in a few weeks after 11 years of trying!
How exciting for ALL of us, huh?
You have a superb list!
I would eliminate Charlotte. It's a gorgeous name, but it's been one of the fastest movers up the charts in recent history and is still growing. I predict it will be a Top 20 if not Top 10 name in the next 3 years!
I like the feel of Annette & Justine together. Annette deserves some recognition. It's so pretty. It's such a treasure because it slides in nicely on a playground full of Lillians, Evelyns, Charlottes, etc. with none of the popularity.
I love the sound of Celeste, Laurel, and Zachary! I don't know that I'd look farther than this delicious combo!
Just for the sake of entertainment, here are a few:
Margo/Margot
Simone
Delphine
Minette- A personal fave.
Gretchen- Another personal fave.
Sabine
Colette
Bethan- The Irish use Megan for Margaret and Bethan for Elizabeth--- "we" haven't discovered the beautiful Bethan at all...
Cosette
Edith
Constance
Corinne (I like the -rinn pro. not -reen)
Yasmine
Bridget
Candace
Carmen
Esther
Fallon
Yvonne
Yvette
Let us know what you decide!

I love Celeste, Laurel and Charlotte from your list. ;)
With such distinctive names, I'd avoid pairing Charlotte and Celeste due to the simple fact that the double Cs will seem like an attempt to make them matchy/cutesy, and obviously you aren't going for that. So Celeste and Laurel or Laurel and Charlotte would be my favorite combos for you. I like the first set just a bit better, but only because Charlotte seems the more popular choice, so Celeste and Laurel seem more balanced, if you KWIM. You really can't go wrong with either one, though.
My only other suggestion might be Laurice. I've only ever known one woman with that name (my MW), and always thought it was beautiful and a bit unexpected.
You have great taste, btw.

I like all the names from your list, so I won't be of much help.
My favorite pairing from your list is Celeste and Justine! Very pretty!
I also like Laurel and Charlotte together. Annette is nms -- it sounds a little dated to me, but it would make a pretty middle name (especially with Laurel).
Some other ideas (sorry for any repeats; I haven't read the other posts):
Camille
Helene
Therese
Elise
Bridget
Corinne
Patience
Kathleen
Adele
Rachel
Good luck!
AJ, enjoying life with C.
I love Annette and Justine! I think they go very well together.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I appreciate it.
