Thanks to all of you with your baby name help this time around.

John "Jack" Frederick was born at 4:15pm on Tuesday, 8/14. He was 7 1/2 pounds and 21" long. He was welcomed home by his big sisters, Megan Joy (Meg) and Julianna May (Annie).

We went back and forth with names the whole pregnancy, but kept coming back to John/Jack. John was my grandfather's name, and I just think it's a very strong, solid name. We know that Jack is very common, but we don't know any, so we decided that wasn't an issue for us. Plus, our last name is long and very unusual, so a more common first name works well in our case.

Frederick is DH's first name (although he has always gone by his middle name), and it's also the first name of his great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, so it was nice to re-use a family name.

Our other considerations were Miles Gregory (nn Milo) and John Gregory (nn Jack), but when I was almost ready to push, I told DH that John Frederick was it. It just felt right, and I'm very happy with it. I'm not quite sure if he's more of a John or a Jack, but we're mostly calling him Jack for now, and we may try John out some more, too.

Thanks again for everyone's help making this decision!
Stephanie, mom to Meg (6/6/03), Annie (11/10/04), and Jack (8/14/07)

*~* Welcome, Jack! *~*~

From the Mommy of another John (nn Jack).

I have to tell you, when my Jack was born 6 years ago, we hadn't decided (well, I hadn't gotten DH to agree) on the nickname.

So my DD -- then 3 -- would tell people. "The baby's name is John. And Jack." And they'd say "It's twins?" LOL

Congratulations to the happy family!

Congratulations and welcome baby Jack!

I love the name Jack too and feel the way you do. We don't know any in our cirlce of friends or in our church, so would consider using the name.

Have a blessed time with you new gift from God!
