wdyt of Jaye for a girl?
Btw, I went to high school with a girl named Jae (spelled like this). It does work for a girl, and suited her really well. I've never actually known a guy named Jay, so to me it suits a girl better.

Wow, you've never known a guy named Jay? Must be a regional thing ... it's my husband's name, as well as two cousins, about half a dozen close friends, one friend's son, two little boys my daughter knows, and at least a dozen others I knew growing up. (Of course, we're in PA, and dh is from IL - where we know even more with this name I didn't include - so I guess you couldn't say regional exactly ... that'd be a huge region LOL). There's also been an influx of "girl" versions of the name here lately (mostly born to Daddy's named Jay/Jason). Jaelie, Jaelyn, Jayla, etc. (various spellings of each, of course).
I wouldn't personally like the name Jay/Jae on a girl - way too masculine for me - but on first glance I would have thought you were going for the pronunciation Jaya, which is actually kind of pretty (reminds me a bit of Jada, so not too unheard of KWIM?).
HTH! ;)
